Plan your next trip. Mark places you want to go. Remember your favorite spots. Across town or across the world, you’ll never forget another place with Pinbox!
Add pins where you are, where you’ve been, or where you want to go. Pinbox makes it easy to quickly record and organize your important places into distinct maps for every activity, occasion, or geographic region.
Unlike other apps, Pinbox doesn’t force you to save all your places on a single map. You can make one map for your favorite local restaurants - make another map for your next business trip or vacation - and make another map for errands you need to run this weekend. The possibilities are endless!
Pinbox is about you and your places. It’s not a social network. You don’t have to create an account or enter your Facebook details to use the app. Your maps aren’t cluttered with random places bookmarked by strangers. Pinbox is simply the best app for privately bookmarking places that are important to YOU!

“I have been using this to keep track of all the places the kids and I go so they can see how spread out our world is and they can see where all we have gone. Will use it forever”.

“I love this app. It is exactly what it claims to be. I have wanted this app since the smartphone was invented. So simple, and so many uses”.
Using Pinbox on an iPod Touch or an iPad:
Like other map apps, Pinbox uses GPS to determine your location. iPods and Wi-Fi-only iPads do not have a GPS receiver. On these devices, Pinbox provides your approximate location using information based on your proximity to known Wi-Fi networks (when on and available). The more accurate the available information, the smaller the circle identifying your position on the map. This feature is not available in all areas. Known Wi-Fi networks are predominantly in urban areas. An internet connection is required to load maps, look up addresses, and search. Although Pinbox can be installed on iPads, it’s not formatted for the larger iPad screen - it runs doubled like all other iPhone apps.
Pinbox is the result of a collaboration between Scott D. Smith and Paul Burd. We sincerely hope you like it!
What's New in Version 8.0
You can now send pins and whole maps to other Pinbox users for importing. You can also share maps as a plain-text file, including a list of all pins, for anyone not using Pinbox. We’ve also enhanced the pin-sharing options, created a custom url scheme for opening Pinbox from third-party "Launcher" apps, and made some subtle User Interface refinements.
To give you enhanced security and privacy, we’ve also retired our in-app web browser in favor of Safari. iOS 9 users will have Safari open within Pinbox. iOS 8 users will be taken to the Safari app for viewing websites. It’s another good reason to upgrade to iOS 9.
If you like Pinbox or any of these new features, please take a moment to add (or update) a nice review in the app store. We love those, and they really do help us promote the app and support future development.
Update: my friend just emailed me a map and I imported it into my own Pinbox. How cool is that?
I live in the country and like to mark points of interest on our property (springs, camp sites etc.) and have done so with my phone for a couple years now. For a while I've used sophisticated gps apps but this is seems much easier for this purpose. I rode our ATV around today and quickly pinned many of our special spots. I also started a map of all the countries I've been to (limited so far;). My sister and her husband fish a lot I'm sure this would help them mark and find their special spots on the lake. Edit: addition of a few pictures to document places is really going to be handy
Makes placing campaign signs a breeze.
I use pin box to document every location that I place political signs during campaigns. Sometimes signs are only a few feet apart or just across the street from each other and it shows individual locations. The best feature is that it documents each sign so you know how many you have places on the streets. I usually do 4-6 campaign at one time and have individual pages for each campaign. No more 4'x6' paper maps and different color sharpies. When the campaign is over I delete each pin as I pick up the signs and know when all signs are up and that puts me in compliance with all local city and county sign ordinances
Amazing Travel Planner
Taking the family on the classic National Parks vacation, and this app is truly awesome. Went through a separate tour book, but then transferred the points of interest into this app with brief descriptions to share. So much easier than fumbling with the old paper maps, and invaluable to navigating to the highlights. Co-pilot in our van can also actually enjoy where we are, and not waste time flipping back-and-forth between pages of tour books. Wish I could've found an easier way to search for particular points instead of simply zooming in on them on the maps of the National Parks, but this app is simply too great to give anything less than 5 stars.
