What's New in Version 1.7
- bugs fixes in IOS8;
Having lots of fun.
Like others, I would like to see an obvious way to go high resolution. Going back and forth between the types of brushes could be better. That being said, I am really getting into using this app. I find it much more than a toy. The more I use it, the more ideas I come up with for using it. What I really like is that the brush strokes look so real. Try as I might in paint programs, brush strokes just don't look like they were made with natural materials. I kind of wish I could do a color sampling within the app and do controlled painting to finish it off which I currently do when I import the painting into a painting app later. Hoping you do an improved update at a later date.
This app is FANTASTIC, except for its FATAL FLAW...
I agree with others that there is nothing else on the AppStore quite like CleverPainter, but it contains FATAL bugs...
I am using the latest update of CleverPainter on an iPad3 running iOS 8.1.2. After painting, if you leave the App (to check email, etc.), then return to the App, CleverPainter will OCCASSIONALLY dump your entire cached painting. It does this if you paint and then quit the App as well (unlike some other programs out there which cache your progress and allow you to return later to continue your work). Until this is fixed, be prepared to lose a tremendous amount of time invested in your paintings.
I found out the hard way after painting for almost two hours.... :(
I also agree with another poster regarding the hi-resolution photo input. The CleverPainter interface needs to be fixed so no downsampling occurs and this feature is more intuitive.
Once these major bugs are fixed, this is easily a FIVE STAR App.
Until then, though, CleverPainter is not much more than a toy... :(
AWESOME BUT NEEDS IMPROVEMENT
I own all sorts of painting apps and so far nothing compares to CleverPainter. The results are phenomenal... The only problem is that even though you do a long press to import a photo at full resolution the app still downgrades the file size. When you insert a photo with a resolution of "4752 x 3168 = 15.2 megapixels" it gets downgraded and saves at "4091 x 2731 = 11.2 megapixels" and the metadata also gets lost. Please fix.
