Love controlling my Xbox from my phone/tablet

I love the accessibility this app gives me and the way Microsoft has made it so easy to use. The same buttons that would control your Xbox on the actual controller are available to you, and to me it is easier to access other things such as friends, feed, messages, and store, all without changing the TV screen. Microsoft has integrated the app so well that you can use your phone to type in messages and codes instead of working through the keyboard on the Xbox itself. One thing I wish they would add is the ability to use Cortana or Kinect capabilities through the app. Sometimes the Kinect doesn't pick up my voice because of the television volume or other background noises, and I think that talking through your phone would change all of that and would be welcome in the community. With that said, it is still an amazing app.

If only it worked

I like what they have done with the app for the most part. I think it's design and features and the capabilities of this app are incredibly cool. It has the potential to be absolutely amazing. Not to mention one hell of a lot of fun. However, it is the biggest POS I have ever used. It's connectivity to the Xbox Ones is horrible. It is sooooo sporadic. I have had several different network configurations and I have multiple Xbox Ones. I have tried it with a certain network config and it won't work for nothing. Then all of a sudden one week it wants to work great. Then I change up the network. Again won't work at all right now for some reason. Also I am a network guy, went to school for this stuff. I don't know it all, but I think I know enough to know that this is a piece of crap. It needs a much better team or group to develop much better networking capabilities to ensure that when I goto my iPad or iPhone and try n turn on or connect to my Xbox One, that is exactly what happens. It is a worthless piece of garbage mostly, when it don't connect to the console.

Good app

I've been using this app, and it's predecessor for 360, for many years as a remote while watching Netflix or some of app on my console. I love how well it works for that. I don't have many complaints about it and the complaints I do have are minor enough that I still use it, yet large enough for me to take away a star.

The biggest issue with the app is how frustrating it can be to get a text field to work properly. When you select a field some times it works and lets you use the keyboard instead of the console input system and it's amazing, the issue is however, that more often than not you have to select it several times before it will give you the option. That is my reason for a 4 star review. I hope that someday it is fixed so that I can simply select it and know that it will work the way it is intended.
