Great Game -- No Need to Spend Real Money
I'm currently at 4/22 of Koperov Ironworks, which is the sixth area into this game. I've found that when this game seems to be "too hard" such that you might feel like you have to sink money into it, the real solution is to backtrack a bit to farm an easier area to gain more gold to either upgrade equipment or just level up. Two monster fights area easier if you have all of your runes fully charged when you go into it. Some runes are very expensive, but are well worth farming gold to be able to afford them when they pop up. Stun, for example, will give you extra turns while Shuffle Tiles will rearrange the board (getting large with levels) such that it could potentially cause titles to line up resulting in you attacking the enemy without having used turn. Although this game has in-app purchases, they feel more like a way to short-cut the game for people who don't have the patience to back-track and farm areas for gold.
Like enbaster, I've run into the bug where if your last move uses an enchanted title and you gain an extra move, then the game board does not reappear after after the enchanted title animation occurs. I am seeing this while using Brit'nee's Spear which includes "Extra Move 100%" among its abilities.
This game suffers from not only sapping money off of the players, but even going so far that you literally must pay in order to beat the level. It gets ridiculously hard as you level up, and then you are basically forced to go back and farm for experience, but even that is scarce! Doing so will just be wasting your energy and precious time. The amount of experience you get is not nearly as much as you would when you first did the level. It's truly frustrating and not worth my time. The only thing saving this game is the updates they add and amount of content. Although, there are so many games like it, making it easily one of my last choices. If it weren't for the updates and content, trust me, I would've been long gone off this app. Its definitely amusing for the first couple hours, but getting more in depth is a real pain. Another problem is item over pricing and gold. Gaining both of these are extremely painful thanks for the amounts of money and scarceness of it all. This is just a crazy setback to my experience with this game. I truly enjoyed and loved this game the first couple hours. The next day's really hurt me to see how low a company can sink down and just use their players for their money. Just why? Please fix this and I might consider coming back!
Some Mechanics Don't Make Sense
I love the game in all but two areas. One: the EXP amounts need work. A lot of work. Going back to farm EXP in an area I just defeated should get me more than 50 EXP when I have thousands until the next level, (I'm only at level 6 btw) especially when players are expected to be at a certain level for certain areas which is unobtainable even by defeating all previous areas and getting all calendar EXP bonuses.
Two: Cleared area money generation. I like the mechanic, but it is implemented in a pointlessly annoying way for later areas. Each area you clear earns more money total: makes sense. The higher level areas take longer to get to their cap: assuming it takes a constant x seconds per coin, makes sense. Higher level areas earn coins slower (such that, if I wait half an hour after collecting, I may get 200 coins from the first area but 150 from the second): WHY? There is no point in having it be that way. This double slow down only takes away from the reward we are supposed to earn on completion of an area.
Other than these two factors I enjoy the game. It's great for casual players. The first does make it kind of impossible to proceed though.
