Fun way to kill time
Addictive game. It IS pretty lame however that if you take a phone call in the middle of an attack, once you return to the game, you've lost all troops involved and show a 0% damage report regardless of how much damage you actually caused before interruption. Basically you're getting punished by the game makers for interrupting your game to do the primary function of your iPhone. Whatever on that.
Also, while the troop logic is a bit infuriating, I can write it off to it allowing for strategic defensive positioning. (For instance, the troops seem to love shooting pointlessly at walls, all the while they could simply walk around the wall and shoot at a real target.) Still, it seems there could be an option to set your troops to attack "high value targets" like iron or home bases or "take out gunners first." See, there's nothing more frustrating than watching your troops stupidly focus on shooting up a credit base all the while they're getting their asses torn apart by turrets. I think any soldier in history would instinctively try to neutralize an attacker first instead of just lamely shooting at a structure until they themselves expire.
Otherwise, it's a game that does just enough to keep it interesting for those of us who need a 5 minute game break throughout the day.
Was fine and fun until it reset - update
I was having fun playing and was even about to pay some real money to pass a hurdle. I started training some troops and turned off my ipad. An hour later I start the app, and it reset me to the beginning. I had a level 5 hq and was about a quarter of the way upgrading everything else from level 4 to 5. Gone. Poof. Deserves 4 for fun, one or two for being Star Wars. Should get zero for deleting my game, but alas, Apple requires us to give the developer the 'participation' star.
Today an update was released and I now get a new screen: 'ACCOUNT_SYNC_CONFLICT_RECOVERY' Apparently, the update has found my old game. Great, I've managed to build up to level 5 again, rejoin my old squad, etc. The screen gives me a choice, restore the recovered file (presumably killing my new game) or discarding it forever. No third option to say 'merge' the special troops I've earned in either game.
At least the original issue of losing the game forever is fixed. I'll give one star for that, so instead of the zero stars that I wanted to give in my original review, they have earned the one star I had to give them the first time. If they can merge my special troops into my new game, they will have earned five stars for finally having a great game with no horrific issues. They will also have earned a few stars for great customer service.
Disney Greed Ruined the Game
So the game itself is pretty good. However Disney and the IT Product Team responsible for this are manipulating players to get real money. If I was a parent I'd be very upset. Moreover this can cause issues with people that have gambling/addition problems. (I'm sure Disney doesn't feel that this is their problem so why care.)
With the new patch the math for medals earned or lost in combat literally makes you go backwards no matter what you do. The only way to keep up it to spend real money. Worse there are times when you will in game in battle getting the "Victory!" message. Then when you are all happy and checking your record it shows a loss?! Nice job coding folks. Or? Was that purposely done? Humm... Miraculously when you spend real money to buy time speed ups (crystals) you magically start winning! How does this happen?? Maybe Disney's greedy 1%-er owners and middle mgrs are looking for their fat bonus checks are fixing the game to make money based on revenue? Naaa who would so such a thing? Stay away from this game and trash its name along with the IT team that made it.
SHAME ON YOU DISNEY!!! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IS WRONG WOTH CORPORATE AMERICA!
