Wayward Souls is an action-adventure game built for quick playthroughs and massive amounts of replay value. It was inspired by Spelunky, Secret of Mana, and our previous game, Mage Gauntlet.
Procedurally generated random levels mean that every time you play the game, it's a different experience. Control one of six characters, all with their own unique playstyles, abilities, and equipment. Explore and fight for survival, in combat where your tactics, positioning, and timing matter.
- Fancy control scheme with no virtual buttons or sticks to fumble over.
- Unlock new areas, for increasingly punishing difficulty.
- 13 area types, all with different monsters, potential traps, and rare encounters.
- Each character can find equipment combinations that change their gameplay.
- Victory is based on your increasing skill as a player, not solely on grinding.
- No IAP ever, even for the hats. All content updates will be free for our fans.
- Unprecedented scope and variety for an action-adventure game on iOS, maybe anywhere.
Another update is being planned! Expect a new character to play as in January.

Shut up and take my money
Keep making games until I am dead. The gameplay mechanics are top tier, and the graphics are amazing being the 16 bit style. I almost brought a tear to my eye seeing Mage gauntlet get a sequel. The story is detailed and very in depth just by giving you little bits and pieces and letting you theorize the rest. The different classes and areas, secrets and little Easter eggs are very funny, give comic relief, or can be extremely interesting. The only thing is that you completely trashed Lexi, who is legitimately my favorite video game character ever. I found it difficult but not to hard, and added more play time to the game.(spoiler) When I beat the game and found Lexi when she said it's not all for this realm, I can't explain how good it felt, your biggest fan, keep it up, and buy this game. Now. Do it.
Wayward Souls is easily one of my favorite apps, and was definitely one of my best purchases on the AppStore! Mage Gauntlet was fun, but this offers a bit more variety with the various forges, characters, etc.
I'm just hoping they add the Paladin soon, and add the ability to rotate/change the orientation of the screen, as it can be hard to play with headphones on an iPhone 5. The controls are not really an issue at all, and certainly get the job done. Also endless does seem to crash most of the time when it ends, which seems to result in a loss of gold and such, so that's certainly an issue...
I hope to see the game continue to grow, and to learn more of the backstory behind the game!
My Favorite Game
The game comes off as highly polished and the quality is superb. The gameplay is rewarding and challenging, but not discouraging. The controls are fluid and nearly invisible if you want them to be. The pixel art is amazing and the animations are just as good. The story is different for each character and good enough to give the events significance but does not take up a lot of screen time, actually, hardly any as all. The main focus is on the gameplay, which is randomly generated each play through, but always balanced so that you never feel compelled to give up for a new map generation. This is one of the only games I play on ios.
