It's 2054 - and the world has changed. Unchecked advances in technology have blurred the line between man and machine. Elves and trolls walk among us, ruthless corporations bleed the world dry, and Feuerschwinge’s reign of terror is just a distant memory. Germany is splintered - a stable anarchy known as the “Flux State” controls the city of Berlin. It’s a place where power is ephemeral, almost anything goes, and the right connections can be the difference between success and starvation. For you and your team of battle-scarred shadowrunners, there’s no better place to earn a quick payday.
Now, a new threat is rising, one that could mean untold chaos and devastation. One that soon has you and your team caught on the wrong side of a deadly conspiracy. The only clue: whispers of the Dragonfall. Rumors that the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge may still be alive, waiting for the right moment to return…

The unique cyberpunk-meets-fantasy world of Shadowrun has gained a huge cult following since its creation nearly 25 years ago. Now, creator Jordan Weisman returns to the world of Shadowrun, modernizing this classic game setting as a single player, turn-based tactical RPG.
A Classic, Story-Driven RPG: Branching narrative full of sharp prose and deep character development. Immerse yourself in a smart, 20+ hour campaign with a diverse cast of all-too-human characters.
Unique Setting: Experience the “Tech meets Magic” dystopian future of Shadowrun, a fan-favorite game setting now celebrating it’s 25th anniversary. Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director’s Cut is the perfect entry point to the setting for those with no prior Shadowrun experience, but has plenty of classic Shadowrun for veteran players to sink their teeth into.
Command Your Team: Lead a small team of shadowrunners - each with their own outlook, motivations, and backstory. The members of your team are designed to play contrasting roles during missions, and each has a distinct set of skills, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. But it’s not all about the mission - each team member also has challenges to face in their own lives, which you can choose to brush aside or play an important part in.
Turn-Based Tactical Combat: When you’re running the shadows, every turn matters. Choose your actions wisely - move to better cover, charge into melee, or lob a fireball into a crowd of enemies. With over 200 weapons and spells at your disposal, every turn is filled with meaningful choices.
Skill-Based Character Progression: Choose a starting character archetype and build from there! Street Samurai and Physical Adepts use advanced combat skills to dominate the battlefield, Shamans and Mages summon powerful allies and cast deadly spells, while Riggers and Deckers provide critical technological support, projecting their consciousness directly into drones and computer systems. Shadowrun: Dragonfall’s classless skill system allows you to grow your character in any direction you choose.

Thematically decent ShadowRun
This is a really nice ShadowRun game and my favorite iPad game. Even better than the first one. If you like ShadowRun and can forgive computer games for being somewhat inflexible, you'll love it. It's not particularly well-balanced, but ShadowRun never was either.
What you'll hate the most is that when campaign is over and you can't just keep on playing individual or even randomly generated extra runs afterward. And the fact that this is what you'll hate the most says a lot about the good quality of the app. But you'll find comfort in playing the very well-themed campaign over again a few times.
Other quirks are that the some character classes are somewhat mingled and it's not always particularly apparent, for example, which spells do what and when they even work. More flexibility in development of characters would help. But, consider it as part of the mystery and you'll be fine. Other than that, I didn't exactly figure out the numerics of the game even though I know the base rules. Somehow, numerically stronger characters still simply always lose compared to others. And minor 10% bonuses make all the difference in the world.
To Harebrained: please please do more follow-up games! And support further character development in free-style runs. And perhaps interchange characters between both campaigns?
Could be 5 stars....
Everything about the game is great aside from the occasional crash, which appears to occur after just about every mission completion when trying to return to the Kreuzbasar. Which sometimes means nothing and the game reloads without issue. However, 20-30% of the time when this happens the game forgets some of my accomplishments....so I decide to load the last time I saved (which I try to do far to often to keep from losing progress) and somehow it only returns me to the last auto save point and not where I last saved, which means I have now start the level over. I have had this happen 4 times now. I really hope this gets fixed so I can award a 5 star rating like the game deserves. I am running the game on an Air2 so I think everything should function correctly....not sure why this continues to happen. Also I close all other apps before running this game and I have tried deleting and downloading twice and that doesn't seem to help.
Outstanding game
Really remarkable game. I was unprepared for the creative and nuanced world-building, the skilled storytelling that builds to a finale full of startling plot twists, and full exploration of the narrative potential of moral ambiguity. The turn-based combat system is similar to XCom, but much richer. I was sorry to reach the end.
I played on a 4th gen iPad, and did not have a lot of technical problems. The game crashed 3-4 times, and hung at one crucial point: near the end of the "False Flag" mission. For anyone who has the same problem - combat ends, and the characters just stop moving - there is a simple solution that took me days to figure out: have all characters exit to the transition point before combat ends.
