What's New in Version 1.1.1
- Bug fix on iOS 8
What is that?
I'm a photo hog. 10gb of photos were eating up the 16gb storage on my 4S. When I heard about this app I thought it was the answer to my issues. I jumped on board early, knowing there would be issues.
The directions are intended to be self-explanatory. But all the info isn't quite there. Not even on the website. All my photos never did upload (despite allowing wifi and cell usage). Not even the new ones I took. Seemed to be hit or miss. And when I tried to organize them into new folders, usually didn't move on the first try. Things initially seemed to be better after the app shut down when ios8 appeared. But soon I realized very little change.
Fast forward to today. I made the leap to the i6. I haven't copied my 4S onto my 6 yet, so no old pics. One of the first things I did was download this app. I expected my photos that had been downloaded to to shutter to show up. But nothing. Nodda single one. What I have discovered is that any new photo taken with my i6 does seem to be downloading properly.
Conclusion is that if you're starting off fresh, the app is great! But if you're looking for a solution to an already jammed up storage issue, look elsewhere.
I'm going to stick with the app for a bit longer in hopes that things change.
Great idea but glitchy app for now
Great way to automatically keep a backup of your photos in the cloud and keep a desired number of photos on your device and free up some space. It will occasionally take forever or not upload the photos at all. I am not sure what's up with that but I have a backup for storing my photos on the cloud(a separate service)
I love this application despite the bugs currently present. The application has definitely been through growing pains and I have continued to use it. The one reason might be that I've had the pleasure of interacting with the shutter/StreamNation support staff. I have contacted them about missing features, misbehaving functions and other questions and always got a quick response.
Free Storage...... BUT
It's hard to knock something that's free, but here it goes. This is great for storing pictures and video, unless you ever plan on retrieving them. To get photos back on your devise, you have to do them one by one. If you want your videos back, that can't even be done via the app. You have to go to their website, retrieve them one by one, import into iPhoto, then sync your phone. I feel like They are hiding this inconvenience from consumers, as it took a couple of emails to the StreamNation folks to figure it out. Getting photos and videos back seems like it should be a simple proposition, but it's made extremely inconvenient with this app. I'm jumping ship.
