Description

Explore world landmarks, discover natural wonders and step inside locations such as museums, arenas, restaurants and small businesses with Google Street View.

Also create photo spheres to add your own Street View experiences. Start with your phone’s camera or add a one–shot spherical camera (like the Ricoh Theta S) for easy 360º photography. Then, you can publish to Google Maps to share your photo spheres with the world.

Content galleries:
• Browse — or be notified of — Google’s newest special collections
• Explore all of Street View (including contributions from others)
• Review your public profile of published photo spheres
• Manage your private photo spheres
• Immerse yourself in photo spheres with Cardboard mode

Creating and sharing photo spheres:
• Use your phone’s camera (no camera accessories required)
• Connect to a spherical camera to capture in one tap
• Share to Google Maps as immersive photo spheres
• Share privately as flat photos

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Photographer

Too minimal and not intuitive user interface. Have to know Google's idea of the workflow for publishing panos in order to get an idea where to find things and what to do next. Seems it was more important to show useless tips, licenses and cameras than to provide a meaningful help how to use it. Buggy. Easy to accidentaly quit the process of publishing and than not being able tofind the Imported images. So you import again and now you see the other set and you have two. Have to restart the app. It doesn't tell you the size limit of the images in Google Photo so you may not see any images to import. Connecting images manually is a pain because the reference image you need to match is not displayed. Needs a lot of work to make it usefull. Doesn't work in Ipad although it claims it does. If you are a pro looking to publish hundreds of panos and link them, good luck!

Great at its job! Tips for better 360s

Downgraded to 3 stars from 5. Frustrated by recent updates.
The Google Street maps overwhelm the interface and make it almost impossible to find user contributions.
Additionally, I get an error now every time I try to import a Photo Sphere taken with another app. No additional information is given as to why it can't be uploaded, and there's no easy way to get tech support.

Previous review:
This app does a great job of capturing 360 panoramas for uploading to Google maps. I'm amazed at how many people have already submitted panoramas in my town. Go to "Explore" and click on the map, and there are panoramas everywhere.

This app is not really designed for personal panoramas, which is why they are deleted when people update their phones. There are other excellent "360" apps that allow you to save spherical panoramas to a private account.

If your panoramas are not aligning correctly, make sure you are trying to rotate yourself and the camera around the point in space where the lens is. The more the lens changes position, the more distortion the app will have to try to correct. There are many resources online that offer tips for taking 360 panoramas.

Brings the world to your pocket

I love the Street View app. You can see so many places in the world and even add your own 360 imagery to the map so others can look at it. The interval capture is much faster now with this update -- I collected 330 photos in an hour with my Ricoh camera. The new blurring feature is also great. Definitely five stars!
