Description

PLEASE NOTE: This app requires a Wonder Workshop robot - Dash or Dot - and a Bluetooth Smart/4/LE-enabled device to play. To find out more, please visit our website: https://www.makewonder.com or an Apple Store (US, Canada). This app is FREE to play.

Blockly is a visual drag-and-drop programming tool developed by Google that allows children to snap together commands like puzzle pieces. Take on coding challenges and invent your own creations by using Blockly to control Dash & Dot!

Learn concepts like sequencing, events, loops, algorithms, operations, and variables through self-directed play and guided challenges. Basic puzzles teach the concepts of coding through playful project ideas, allowing kids to learn and explore all on their own. Bonus puzzles are added each week for endless entertainment and learning.

Kids can confidently embark on their own coding adventures with their newfound knowledge, a dash of creativity, and robot buddies - Dash & Dot. For ages 8 and up.

As seen on the New York Times, USA TODAY, WIRED, Engadget, BBC, and more.

“Thoroughly absorbing.” - New York Times

“Both kids begged me to take out the robots and start playing with them again.” - Business Insider

“Wonder Workshop's notion that kids need to learn twenty-first century skills (and can have fun doing it) flips the industry paradigm on its head, putting kids first.” - James Oppenheim

"They are designed to encourage kids to explore and be curious while also learning problem solving." - VentureBeat

HOW TO PLAY
- Connect Dash and/or Dot to the Blockly app using Bluetooth Smart/4
- Start with a sample project or start your own projects from scratch
- Navigate Dash through a maze or around your home, using object detection to avoid walls
- Dash & Dot know when they are being picked up and moved. Program them to sound the alarm when there is a disturbance!
- Program Dash & Dot to do synchronized dances and moves with lights, motion, and sounds

Wow... What a app!

Cook3943

For developer(s),I have a Dash and a Dot and when I play this game I love it but some puzzles for me are impossible to do!😡 like I try to clap so
dash can hear me, but it doesn’t work!?!? Which is a little disappointing but good app for school! 👍🏻

Developer Response

Hey Cook3943

Wanted to reach out and see if we could help in some way. If the clap does not work for some reason you can also try tapping (very lightly) Dash's head with a pencil to see if you can get home to respond. If that still does not work please reach out to us at support@makewonder.com

Needs a little more work for Dot

TheManTheMyrrh

Just got our son a Dot for the holidays. The first puzzle cannot be completed as the sounds it is packaged with are for Dash and not Dot.

Much better! Finally the app we need

Patimen

Quick note: you only have to do the first puzzle to get access to the rest of the app. It's annoying, particularly on multiple devices, but it won't take too long.
Dash and dot have been fun, so far, but not the powerful tool for helping children learn to program I had hoped for. This latest version finally addresses most of those issues. You have variables, done fairly well, as many start triggers as you want and a well done interface that isn't too difficult to work with.
The puzzles are clever, though I deducted a star because of the unskippable first lesson. It seems the first version of dash and dot will forever be married to the app, as no functionality can be downloaded to the bots themselves. This is still my biggest disappointment with the robots, as they are not really the programmable toy promised at the beginning. But this app will finally allow a rich enough set of programming tasks to teach programming and allow lots of fun projects and experiments. Thanks!
