Description

You can now find localfood. The LocalFood CS app will tell you who is growing or producing local food, where you can buy it and which eateries (and drinkeries) are sourcing local in Colorado Springs and throughout the Pikes Peak Region.

Our goal is to pull together producer and consumers to relocalize our food system. On the producer end this includes farmers, ranchers, commercial food producers but it also includes you and your neighbor who may have eggs, honey, backyard produce, goat milk, bread or some other homemade, or homegrown food to sell. On the consumer end, this includes anyone who is looking to source, eat or buy local, sustainable and ethical food. This could be a restauranteur looking for local tomatoes, a baker in search of the freshest most local ingredients or it might be you, trying to find a dozen eggs from your neighbor’s laying hens.

The one complaint that we kept hearing was “Where can I find local food?” Remember that our small-scale local food growers and producers do not have the capacity or the capital to properly market their products in this industrialized food market. The LocalFood app is their new marketing tool. If local is important to a restauranteur, shouldn’t the locally minded eater know? If a rancher’s meat is the result of pasture-raised animals, shouldn’t the rancher be able to get the word out? Yes, they should. And now they can with the Official LocalFood App.

In addition to this being a “local food in your hand” platform, we have also created a “localness, organicness and pastureness” rating. You will find that 99% of the suppliers (growers & producers of local food) are located within 67 miles of the center of Colorado Springs. However, many food producer who are geographically very local may source only some of their ingredients locally. Some stores may have exclusively organic products but not all sourced locally. Meat suppliers may be completely organic but pasture only part of the time. The L.O.P. will allow the consumer to see how local, how organic and how impor

Customer Reviews

contact? app support?

love the idea of this app, and love that people can find our little farm, but it is impossible to make changes to my account! there is no way to contact anyone, and there is no way to edit what we have for sale. the app support button only goes to the developer website, which again lacks any way to contact a person. i would use it more often if those were available options, as i do not always have the same things in stock.

Decent idea, bad implementation

Why is there no search?

Why is there no key for an unknown letter code?
[B, N, S???]

I'm not sure how to really get much use out of this app.
