Subscribing to this stand-alone streaming service is a cinch—and with a free trial, you can get quick access to tons of blockbuster films, comedy specials, and stellar original series like Game of Thrones, True Detective, Girls, and Six Feet Under. With its clean interface and vast catalog, the HBO NOW app is a gateway to hours upon hours of great entertainment.
As a subscriber, I usually know what I want when I open App. The App never seems to know that I am a subscriber. It runs swipe advt promos that are generic, not seemingly geared to that session’s offerings. More than half a dozen times in one session, using the UI takes me to the wrong show or the wrong episode. The search feature is one of worst I have ever encountered—perhaps one part of UI doesn’t know a new episode is available? Why isn’t UI updated to match current advt, for same look & feel. New advt inspiring, makes me feel good about $15/month. UI makes me wonder how one gets charged from consistently difficult to navigate App. The service may deserve Apple Editor’s Choice, not UX. And please highlight the artist of great new song Machines and Butterflies and don’t make someone search elsewhere for details on HBO content! Movie search navigation interminable; does any other search feature on any App/site make you go back to the beginning of the alphabet after looking at details of one movie? And as written before: one of main reasons for subscribing is Real Time: your search regularly can’t find latest episode! If Bill Maher knew that he couldn’t find his own show with HBONow, likely upset? You folks have content any UX designer would jump to design with, so you must not have the team you need; get more $, add team members!

Needs more organization
I've been using the months for 2 months now and it has a few minor issues that all have to do with the organization and convince of the app. One of them is that if if you do not finish whatever you're watching---when you come back to the app, it will replay from the very beginning. However, sometimes this was NOT a problem. It just simply continued where I left off. Another issue is that it does not have a "Continue Watching" or "Watch History", so I had to search for what I was watching every single time I closed the app. I did experience some connection problems, or what I thought to be connection problems such as my entertainment being very rudely interrupted by a blank screen with the audio still available in the background or freezing up. Also, it sometimes took a long time for my entertainment to load. I found that I had a much more pleasant and/or near-perfect experience when connected to high speed internet. Other than this I had no other problems. Even these never frustrated once. I simply reloaded the app or fast-forwarded through what I was watching to find where I left off.
