Customer Reviews

Bluetooth fine. Base unit, not so much

Have used the Kitchen unit for both oven and outdoor grill. Temperature-wise, the iKitchen has been spot on, yielding perfect chicken, steak, and burgers every time. Bluetooth has yet to fail, even with probe outdoors, about 50 feet away. Despite occasionally alarming that it is too far away from the iPhone or iPad, it has never permanently dropped the connection.
The frustration comes from the base unit appearing to turn off. Turns out that only the display, including BT light and probe indicators, goes dark, sometimes for the duration of use. Strangely, the device stays connected to the phone or pad, so no harm to the cooking.

Tries to do be too much

I am afraid I have to join the chorus of other accomplished cooks who want this app to have the BASIC functionality of the original iGrill i.e. the ability to display temp and graph for two or more probes, on an iPad, in landscape mode, without having to frequently wash hands to awaken or unlock the device. That's all many, many long-time users really want!

I can't knock this software just because it doesn't do what I like. The original versions of iDevices Connected were buggy but I haven't had any problems for the last few. It has much more versatility than the original software/device pair. I only have the iGrill2 to use with it.

I like the new iGrill2 but the Bluetooth drops more (through metal siding) with the new software and iGrill2 than the original. I also wish that the probe leads came out the top to stay out of my way or how about this - a flippable display?

I see IGrill is growing and looking for people. I hope they hire someone to read these reviews and implement the basic improvements requested by long time users - i.e. customers.

Game Changer

I was looking at this one in lieu of a different kind my friend has. I made the right choice. I primarily use it on my smoker. I love that I can use 4 different probes to check different meats. So far, Bluetooth seems to stay connected even when I am inside the house.
The only thing that I would change is the base unit display goes dark while cooking and you need to use just your phone to see the temperature. Maybe this is done to preserve battery life? It would be nice to have the option in settings.
