This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.

We want you to have the best experience possible with this app. If you have any problems launching or operating the app, please contact for assistance.

This application is for:
•IEEE members who have already requested to receive their issue of Spectrum digitally
•IEEE members who are not currently getting a digital/iPad magazine, but would like to
•Non-members of IEEE who would like to purchase single copies or subscriptions of Spectrum

Members who are already digital subscribers will be asked for the email address where Spectrum is being delivered plus their Qmags password. Those who don’t remember their password can request to have it sent to their delivery email address.

Members who are not currently receiving Spectrum digitally will have an option to change their print subscription to digital/iPad at no charge (you will no longer receive print), or purchase a combination print PLUS digital subscription (you will receive both print and digital/iPad). Tap the “Don’t have a Qmags account” button.

IEEE Spectrum magazine is edited for electrical, electronic, computer engineering and scientific professionals identified in the high technology sectors of industry, business, government and education. Qualified subscribers include electrical and electronics engineers; computer engineers and scientists; software engineers; systems designers; design, research and development engineers and scientists, as well as engineering managers and corporate executives. Okay when it works...really hard to get it there

It's nice to have a digital copy of a mag. I'm bummed that it doesn't include formatting that's easy to read on the iPhone. I'm constantly zooming in and out and/or straining to read tiny text. Recently switched phones and account (login info) did not transfer with backup. I'm not surprised about that, but I am surprised that the app didn't prompt me to log in, but rather let me assume it was experiencing a glitch that prevented my content from appearing/downloading. When I found the login page and tried entering my information I experienced two issues, 1) the email address field was auto-correcting (which can and should be addressed by developer) and 2) when I tried to log on (or even reset my password in desperation), the app asserted that the user id field was missing. I ended up deleting and re-downloading the app. This took me to the "splash page" of the app - the screen that appears the first time you open an app and never displays again - which was a differently formatted login page where I WAS able to finally login (w/o resetting my password), see and download my content. Overall a terrible and new-user-prohibitive experience, but one that expect will occur once (or until I switch phones again). App has not crashed at least...

Not sure if there is some special dance and incantation needed to be able to actually download my magazines. I am a member, have spectrum on my subscription, it recognized my login but only provides option to buy the year or individual issues. The purpose of apps is they should be intuitive and easy to use. No help obvious, search doesn't provide any. This will be the shortest lived app on my phone

UI is bad

Spectrum itself looks great, but who wants to read it in an app that looks so bad? It's a shame that IEEE is satisfied with this—there are typos in the user interface! Either Qmags needs to get their act together and hire a good UI designer or IEEE needs to find a better platform that isn't stuck in 2010.
