Disappointing and SLOW
Originally, I signed up for IFTTT and IF to link my Nest and Hue. The recipes take a long time to run 10-20 minutes of lag. I wanted to create home and away scenes for my house that I could control in one place (set my Nest to home when I get near my house and have the lights in the stairs come on so I don't trip). The lag makes this impractical, so I end up using multiple apps and settings to adjust each device separately. IF just adds an unnecessary level and an extra app to the mix. Support is also slow/unresponsive. There is no acknowledgement when issues are reported, and I've gone a day without a receiving a response. I'm pretty close to deleting this app. So much potential...
Doesn't work, no support except on Twitter, regret installing
I apparently have IFTTT feeds I cannot turn off, and do NOT want, filling my Instapaper inbox with NYT, Atlantic long reads, etc. I deleted the ones I could find in My Recipes. Now I have no IFTTT actions, but I still can't use my Instapaper inbox because it keeps filling up with hundreds of articles I don't want, and have to delete. I'm deleting my IFTTT account in hopes that will stop it. If IFTTT doesn't work as advertised, I don't need it—other services like Zapier have the same features, and apparently work. I regret installing this app.
Note—Setting up an account with Twitter is apparently required to get help for IFTTT. Anyone have any other options? A review is my only option to setting up an account on Twitter.
Usefulness varies by user
I've had IF (formally IFTTT) on my phone since it was originally released, and it didn't offer many recipes that fit my needs. But over time it's become a great deal more useful as I began using more and more programs and devices, or as new channels have been added. You'll likely find at least a few recipes that make the app and service worthwhile, which is why I recommend giving it a trial run.
