Customer Reviews

Disappointed

The app is just like the paper catalog, but even more difficult to navigate. Both are poorly put together and does not give me what I need in the way of researching and shopping for a kitchen re-do. I want an old fashion catalog set up like Sears and JC Penny's, which shows each item clearly and on it's own with color selections and measurements, item numbers and prices. Only in this way, can I select the item I am interested in see how it will fit where I want it. If I have the item number I want to be able pull it up online to take a look at it more closely. For the first time today, I went through an IKEA store. I thought, I would be able to come home, look it up either online or in my catalog and check it out before making any decision. My husband and I live around 60 miles from the store, and it is difficult for us to that much walking to get through the store. Some of the thing we were interested required us measuring before purchasing. Can't find item online or in the catalog. Your company is in desperate need of making the shopping experience at your establishment much easier and user friendly. I am giving you a one star only because it won't allow me to give you no stars, not because of your products but because coordinating the shopping from home is impossible.

Bad UX/UI design

I know IKEA likes to be modern, but this app creates a bad experience for the user. First you have to wait for it to fully download the content. If you try to use it before download is completed, you just get stuck. Then after it is downloaded the navigation contradicts any other standard requiring you to review the help or figure out on your own resulting in missing products for frustration. As browsing I found a lot of pages that hung while loading the animation. I am no a really fast in sternest connection and a newish iPad Pro. Should not have pages stop or skip while scrolling. The content is state of the art in Ikea style, so they preserved that aspect, but the experience is does not leave a good first impression. I wonder how many people will just give up and go to the printed catalog or web site before able to figure out app.
Keep trying IKEA, I think you have some good ideas that could pan out with some additional effort. Feels like an alpha experience on top of what could be a top of the line layout.

So instead of selling products, they just induce vertigo now?

I was excited to download the newest 2017 IKEA catalog, but that was all quickly replaced with confusion and disappointment. I have the 2016 and 2015 catalogs on this iPad, and those are easy to read. I even went back to earlier versions to see if they changed the app, but those navigate fine. This new 2017 has moving elements and video files instead of showcasing new products. I literally flipped through all 117 pages and didn't find one specific item for sale! Other glitches like menus popping up from the bottom, clicking on any item brings up only one that is assigned to each "page". This is an e-book and digital authoring nightmare come to life.
