Fixed issue causing application crash when adding Google Talk account
Good app, but a few bugs to work out.
On the whole I like the app, it runs multiple chat networks, even multiple accounts on the same network (two on GTalk, anyway). Being able to group contacts by network or by organized buddy groups is handy. Being able to combine contacts into meta-contacts (one person's AIM, Skype, and GTalk all grouped together) is even handier, and this is the first iPad app I’ve seen that does that consistently.
That said, the meta-contacts have a bug where only the status of the first account in the group is shown, so I have people who are showing up as offline but their second or third meta-contact account is available. There’s no chat tabs when you have multiple conversations going at once, you swipe sideways to get from one to the next. This works until you have more than three conversations going, at which point it becomes tedious and hard to find the right conversation. There’s also no way to reorganize buddies or add groups. If someone in my Skype “Ungrouped Contacts” is supposed to be in another group, this app won’t let me fix that. When I realized today that I really needed two groups instead of one, I wasn’t able to add a group and move the buddies there. These certainly don’t make the app any less functional, they just get irritating after a bit.
I've been hunting for a stable multi client chat app for a while. I used to use trillian but they just don't care enough about the product to keep it updated. Then I used IMO but they trying to be the next whatsapp by screwing over their customers by removing third party client support. I actually like this app a lot it's very easy to use and I don't really have that much trouble getting my notifications which is really important.
The only problem I have with this app is that the icon is extremely hideously ugly but if that's the only complaint I can make I can live with that.
Great app, few bugs to work out
So far, IM+ Pro has done everything I would expect from an app that supports as many networks as it does. I use it daily to connect to my Skype and Facebook and it has yet to fail me. The only issue I've discovered so far (and this IS an issue the developers are aware of and are working on), is that if you send several messages back to back, there are occasions when the other party will reply and their message appears above yours each time. Not that big of a deal, but other then that little issue, IM+ Pro is an outstanding app. Definitely worth the price!
