Engraved folder icons don’t look like standard Mac engraved folder icons

This app is extremely easy to use. You can create an icon in 10 seconds! I really like how easy it is to change the horizontal and vertical position of the image in the icon. The quality of most of the icon templates (Folder, Document, Drive) is great. I really like that I can create a Windows ICO file as well; that means I can use this one app for multiple platforms!

However, the “Folder (Engraved)” template results in a softer/lighter engraved image than what I see with the standard Mac engraved folders (e.g., Documents, Pictures, Desktop). For my image, the engraved image was so light that it wasn’t even noticeable in Finder (using a small icon size, in List or Columns view); the folder looks just like the normal folder icon. It would be great to be able to choose how dark the engraving is.

It would also be great to have a DMG template (similar to the Drive template, but not quite).

Works great

Not sure what others are saying about needing to buy the full version to export it. I was able to save out any of the icons I made from images I edited in Photoshop and saved out as a .png and then just dragged it into the app, then exported it out as folder and voilà! instant icon kicked out with no white background, easy-peasy. Worked just as advertised for me. The only down-side is I spent several hours late into the night going crazy making custom icons for hundreds of folders and such, when I should have been getting a good night sleep. But that only underscores how easy and painless this app was/is.

Lots of free functionality

I was surprised at the amount of free functionality that I got with this app - I was able to turn my large scale company logo to a nice favicon set for my website, as well as local icons I can use on folders. Also gives multiple export options for free - some of the advanced features are pay options, but I found that the free stuff exceeded my needs. Very nice app, especially for those who are not in the “icon business” and simply need a one-time tool for making icons versus purchasing a commercial app that will sit on the virtual shelf after use.
