On the fence
I used to like this app. I'd probably have given it 4 stars a couple weeks ago, but I've run into an issue.
It seems that the app requires me to be signed in to use it. This is new behavior, and completely counter to how many people use an app such as this. I like to run in places where I may not have great LTE or 4G reception. The app could function with just having a gps signal, but suddenly it seems like it won't.
The problem is that I finish stretching, get into my mindset, start the app and.... Wait. And wait. And wait. And oh, enter your info again so it can try to sign in again. And wait. And wait. Meanwhile, I'm distracted from my mind space by the app that's suppose to enhance the experience.
Fix this, guys, it seems newish, and having to re-enter my info every single time I open the app is definitely new.
I’ve disallowed access to cellular data for MapMyFitness, yet it still “magically” receives updates while not on WiFi and ONLY a cellular data connection. Why?
I realized that MapMyFitness was #2 in battery usage on my phone FROM BACKGROUND APP REFRESH ALONE, so I attempted to disallow background refresh for the app and it is mysteriously missing from the list of apps that are toggle-able.
This app is doing way too much in the background, even disobeying iOS and somehow establishing data connections over cellular when explicitly forbidden.
Do not trust this app.
MVP Interval Feature
My first time using the interval feature today after paying for MVP. I loved the voice alerts and the fact that it counted the interval number for me. Only recommendation would be increasing the volume of the voice indicator or being able to choose different tones. If a car was passing me I had trouble hearing the chime/voice and missed a couple pace changes. Overall, worth the $$$ for MVP with this feature alone. Still cheaper than buying a fancy watch or other GPS training device.
Works well for biking and syncing with Fitbit
I use this with my Fitbit Charge HR to log my bike rides. I love the split times and playing music. It doesn't seem to upload easily but once it does, it ports into the Fitbit app well. Wish I could put the route in after doing it and before saving. Instead have to save workout and then go back in and edit. Overall, satisfied with app.
