Works well MOST of the time
Coming back to MMR after several years with another app has felt with the many improvements for the most part. Map files available almost anywhere is the best.
But there are a few issues I am finding with MMR. I do not like the removal of current speed, even if it tends to erratic due to GPS challenges. The other big cycling app has done the same but I would rather use my phone for everything than a separate computer.
Second, is sometimes the app fails to track a route when phone is closed. Pretty disappointing to have put in a couple hours on the peddles only to find that the app has sleeping instead of recording.
Third, the segment thing does not impress me. Perhaps it is because no one is setting up segments. If so then ask people to set some and explain how to do it. I still haven't found out since I only use the phone app, I guess.
The average speed every few miles is worthless for me and I imagine others feel the same. No way to tie the locations of the "laps." Other apps give you a much better connection with the course and the speed/grades.
My guess is MMF/UA has been focusing their resources on other sports and the field of cycling apps has passed them up after such a great earlier pace.
Get with the program MMR/MMF/UA.
Like another reviewer, I began riding again (after being off the bike since Junior High) at 50. For many years, I used a bike meter and pencil and paper to track my progress. From the beginning, knowing how much I’d done and where I’d been were huge motivators. I’ve been using MapMyRide for some years now, and it’s a great pleasure to let it do all the work. It’s accurate—and flexible. Now 74, I just moved to an urban area with sketchy bike options, and I’m temporarily walking for my exercise. The app might have been called MapMyWalk. Works well synched with a heart monitor, too. Excellent all around.
It's really great app to track your progress. I especially like the feature that I can look at my previous tracks and go back and repeat down. It's real handy to keep track of which is a certain mile track and which takes a certain amount of time. I can plan my work out right according to how much time I have a know which track is going to work. I also like the fact that I can use it when I'm watching the dogs are other things to keep track of how much I'm actually walking or how many steps I'm taking really cool thank you
