iMuscle 2 provides users with the ability to zoom into an area on our 3D human body and tap on a muscle to reveal exercises and stretches targeted to the development and/or rehabilitation of that specific muscle. Once identified, just add it to a workout. The app also features our unique animations which provide direction on how to properly perform each exercise. In addition to individual users, iMuscle 2 was designed with multiple users in mind, making it ideal for fitness instructors and physiotherapists to use with their clients.

HOW TO USE:
1. To work on a particular body area, zoom into the area on our 3D model. Click on a muscle you want to work on and a thumbnail list of all the exercises associate with that muscle will be presented.
2. Select an exercise and you'll be shown an animated 3D model performing that exercise. You'll also see a written detailed description of how to perform the exercises. Primary and secondary muscles targeted will also be highlighted.
3. Add the exercise to a workout.

I reviewed iMuscle prior to the update and although the review was generally positive, I lamented the absence of certain small muscles that are relevant to weight lifting. They are here as is so much more. The appearance of the model is cleaner and smoother. The rotation and zooming features are intuitive. The appearance of the program itself is polished and the lists of exercises will satisfy the novice and the experienced. Personal measurements and progress trackers are included. I don't use the social media features, but they are present for the interested. My only request (not really a complaint) would be the addition of trackpad pinch to zoom capability to a future version. I would also like a section labeling the muscular origins and insertions. The body mechanics of individual muscles is easier to follow when so labeled, I think. Overall, the program is great and the developer's responsiveness is evident.
Who is this for: workout enthusiasts, both novice and advanced, for ease of use and customization capability.
Who is this not for: someone looking for comprehensive anatomy including nerves and bony attachments. 3D 4 Medical offers separate programs for these.
Very good, very innovative app
I was looking for soemthing that would help me understand the muscular anatomy and what I’d be working with different weight-lifting exercises. iMuscle2 fit that requirement perfectly. While I have many resources for weight-lifting exercises, this app helps me keep straight in my head what body part I’m working with what exercise. I found that I was missing some from my workouts completely, like the rear deltoids.
The app itself functions well, and is easy to navigate. The only problem I’ve had is that the application locks up if I close my laptop lid and then re-open it while the app is on the screen. That may just be my particular configuration. I have a MacBook Pro summer 2012.
I’d recommend this app to anyone trying to get a handle on what exercises are for what muscle, and to better learn the muscular anatomy involved. Yes, it is not an encyclopedia of exercises for each bodypart, but the exercises provided are quite enough for starters. I’m very pleased with this inexpensive solution to my questions.
Bought Mac and iPhone version with desire to sync the data. Downloaded free home exercises on iPhone and set up a new workout. Tried to restore data to Mac version, so that I wouldnt have to reenter the workout data, and I got a message saying that I needed to enable the free home exercise content on the mac. Then the app crashes. No matter what I try, I cannot enable the free content on the mac without the application crashing. Doesnt let me into the store. since my iPhone has the free content and the mac does not, I am unable to sync the databases. Three stars until this is fixed.
Also note that this appliation does not do a true iCloud sync. You have to use the backup/restore function and hope that you don’t write over the latest data. This too needs to be improved.
Visually the app is very nice, and the developer seems to be keeping the software up to date. Fix the sync issues and I’ll give it 5 stars.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
