iNap: Arrival Alert
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
WIRED 2009 - There's nothing like the click-clack of train tracks to lull you to sleep. And there's nothing like the fear of missing your stop to jolt you awake every 15 seconds. You can avoid this seesaw with iNap, a travel alarm that keeps you from dozing past your destination on public transit. Just use the Google map embedded in the app to indicate where you'll be getting off, then hit the hay. As long as your iPhone can get a GPS signal (sorry, subway riders), the program will track your location and trigger an alarm a preset distance before your stop. Remember to wipe off the drool before disembarking. (WIRED Magazine, issue 2/2009)
Ever wanted to get some sleep during a train ride, or a quick powernap on the bus to work? You either hoped to wake just in time not to miss your station, or set an alarm to wake you far too early... Let iNap wake you when you get close to your stop!
iNap is a 'next-generation' travel alarm. Using the GPS in your iPhone it will determine where you are, and wake you when you are close to your destination!
Using the integrated user-friendly Google Maps you determine your destination by typing in an address, city, train-station etc. Set how far from your destination you want to be woken up (100 meters before your destination? 1km? Up to 100km or Miles? iNap is flexible!) and you are ready to take a nap!
- iNap will wake you when you get near your destination!
- Integrated Google Maps!
- Use a street-name, city, train-station... anything to set as a destination!
- Get some extra sleep when the train (bus, tram etc.) has a delay!
- Several alarm sounds to wake you! Including a wake-up call from our mascot!
- Sensitivity level (distance from destination) from 100 meters– 100km / 0.1 mile– 100 miles!
- Can be used while listening to your iPod!
- Saves your settings! Saves all your destinations for later use!
Note: iNap works on all iPhones, but is best used on the iPhone 3G.
Gizmodo: "Clever uses of location services always impress me, and iNap is one of the best!"
Macrumors: "Commuters: get extra sleep with iNap!"
Random users: "Genius!" "Brilliant!" "Dang cool!" & "iNap, therefore iAm"

It works well on iPhone EDGE
I have the original iPhone and this morning i fell asleep on the metro bus and missed my stop. After that, i promptly installed iNap even though my iPhone has no GPS capability. I tested iNap on my way home. When i got on the bus, i set iNap to wake me up at 1 mile from destination. Either i was extremely tired or i was very trusting of iNap, i actually fell asleep. At about a mile away from my set destination, iNap woke me up! It really didn't drain the battery in my iPhone all that much. I started off with 67% power and ended up with 60%. During the 50-min journey, i had the Dark Knight soundtrack playing. Since Apple does not allow app to run in background, iNap has to be the active application. One important thing is to note is to turn off preview for text messages. If you don't, iPhone may disable iNap and switch to the SMS app when you get a new text message.
Does what it says. I am using it on a 3g with min. Battery drain after 1 hour each way on the long island railroad. What I don't like and the reason I gave it 4 stars is the kiddie alarm sounds it comes with. I'm going to new York city and really don't want people hearing my phone doing owl hoots and tugboat sounds. Please understand and give basic beeps and phone sounds. An. Alarm that stars of low and gets louder would be great. Think of other sleeping passangers when comming up with new sounds. As far as the phone getting hot and burning the bat life, my gut tells me these reviews are from either people with thief phone jail broken or are compition. I've used this over a week and trust it to wake me up in time now. Great job, even with the alarms, I will keep it on vibrate till new ones come out.
Neat but doesn't work well
Nice idea and good integration into "trein", but doesn't work. Last night I tried the program, set a 2km radius alert for Leiden Centraal and watched my iPhone screen as the train pulled into the station with the indicated distance holding steadily at 2.5km. Good thing I tested it before falling asleep! I can confirm other reports that the program causes the iPhone to run warm and does indeed consume battery power quickly, although I don't think you can blame the developer for that. Also, when you set an alert, switch briefly to another program, and come back to iNap, it defaults back to not waking you up! I can see this being confusing if you're napping, get an SMS or email and want to check it, and your then have to remember to take that extra step of re-enabling the alarm in addition to switching back too the app. Not good if you're groggy from waking up in the middle of a nap!
