inBloom: The Eco App
By Andrew Ross
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
inBloom finds organic, environmental, and sustainable businesses near your current location. Just press the button to 'See Goodness Nearby' and get a list of positive businesses, with ratings, maps, and more.
Having already launched in New York with over 500 listings throughout the five boroughs, inBloom is thrilled to launch in Austin with an additional 250 local businesses. inBloom will expand its presence across the country over the course of March with launches in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago later in the month, adding thousands of new local businesses.
The app can be easily customized for your specific dietary and eco preferences, and will show you the nearest businesses that are Organic, Locavore, Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, Paleo friendly, Raw, and environmentally friendly. The app has hundreds of listings for restaurants, farmers markets, grocery stores, CSAs, green hotels, biodiesel and electric charging stations, green supply stores, clothing stores, and retail businesses powered by renewable energy. The information for each listing is extremely detailed, well-researched, and designed to help even the most discerning consumers.
inBloom is built by two musicians-- Andy Ross of OK Go and Eytan Oren of Eytan and The Embassy-- who first started the project as a way of making it easier for bands to tour more sustainably.
What's New in Version 1.0.1

- Improved external website user experience
- Design improvements
Direction backward, needs better search & 'save to favorites' would be nice
Nice start, but needs some work.
Seems to have several options in the S FL area; however, it lists every direction backward. E.g.: Whole Foods market 10 mi S of me is listed as 10 mi N of me!
Need option to search 'near me' OR by user-specified city, state or ZIP input.
Would also be nice to be able to tag, flag or otherwise mark favorites for future quick look-up.
Upgrades like these will earn more stars if the app continues to perform acceptably.
I had no idea that some of the businesses I already go to are organic. Discovered some new spots to check out as well. Great app. Now if I could only do a search on a specific spot (instead of just what is around me...) :D!
Welcome to the Neighborhood!
This app is pure awesomeness. I just recently moved to Brooklyn and use it all the time to find new healthy, local options when eating out and going grocery shopping. Super fun and easy to use!
