Ingress transforms the real world into the landscape for a global game of mystery, intrigue, and competition.

Our future is at stake. You must choose a side.

A mysterious energy has been unearthed by a team of scientists in Europe. The origin and purpose of this force is unknown, but some researchers believe it is influencing the way we think. We must control it or it will control us.

“The Enlightened” seek to embrace the power that this energy may bestow upon us. “The Resistance” struggle to defend, and protect what’s left of our humanity.

Install Ingress and transform your world.

The World is the Game
Move through the real world using your iOS device and the Ingress app to discover and tap sources of this mysterious energy. Acquire objects to aid in your quest, deploy tech to capture territory, and ally with other players to advance the cause of the Enlightened or the Resistance.

The struggle is being played out globally. Track the progress of players around the world, plan your next steps, and communicate with others using an Intelligence map.

Form Alliances
The struggle to save the planet spans the entire world. Groups of people acting together can be more effective than individuals acting alone. Cooperation across neighborhoods, cities, and countries will be needed to achieve the ultimate victory.

Serious Fun

This game is absolute genius. The simplest description for it is "a worldwide game of capture the flag." So, naturally, it uses your location any time you're playing. If you use a smartphone, you're on the grid. Get used to it. It goes so much deeper than that, though. It's one of those games that, when described to someone who isn't at all nerdy, you're probably bound to get a strange look. Especially when you're explaining it to someone who has been watching you play in public, and wondering what on earth you're doing. But you must tell that person just to try it. Seriously, anyone can have fun with this game.

The best two parts of this game for me is it can't be played sitting on the couch, and it is easily integrated into my existing routine. You can play it sitting in your car, but if you're only doing that, you're missing out on the full experience, and spending too much money on a game. Don't get me wrong, though, playing Ingress while on your commute and running errands adds some fun to otherwise dull activities. Ingress encourages exploring the world and taking the time to notice things that we miss in our rushed routine. It has worked for me. I have found myself taking more walks and getting out of the house daily ever since the day I installed Ingress.

Good game but…

I love the idea of this game. Something new and refreshing. It relies on your location in the real world to hack landmarks, almost like a virtual capture the flag. However it requires the players to actually be near those location. This is actually very interesting hour never seen anything like this before however not everyone has the time to just walk out of the house go to next location come back. For example the nearest location or landmark for me to "hack" is the local park I normally don't go there because my schedule won't permit and so I know I have nothing to do I'm so level one. This game actually requires some outside activities.

I LOVE how little data this game uses, and how the developers truly care about my privacy and rights as human! Awesome logo! I love trippy and "totally random" geometric designs and stuff. Which brings me to another point! To all those out there that are dissing this game, and saying that this is a violation of your personal snowden crap. You know what you are? Unpatriotic. As a matter of fact, anyone who DOESN'T play Ingress is essentially a traitor - plain and simple. If you don't have anything to hide, then why does it matter? It's my Constitutional RIGHT for me to play INGRESS you CISPA freaks. God bless America. Good work Google, you beautiful soul.
