Still hate the video format, LOVE the new DM format!
I still hate how you can't pause videos. But this review is about the new DM format and the pros compared to the cons of the previous version. PRO1) before I would send 20 messages to people and I would have to tap each one to remember who I was talking to because all of them only had my name on them. SO ANNOYING! Now, every DM has the other person's name so you know exactly which DM was sent to who. This is by far my favorite feature of the new DMs (took long enough but it's cool). PRO2) this is a big time saver, instead of taking a screen shot to show someone a picture in a DM, you can just hit the share arrow and search for the user you want to send to, then BAM new DM created with the picture! This is also a great feature. PRO3) I like how you can be browsing IG and if you get a new message it'll pop down from the top of the screen so you can read it without having to go back to the home page to search for the new DM. This is also a time saver. PRO4) you don't have to create a new DM just to send another picture or video! Just send as you please within the same thread. Basically IG has a more text message-like DM system now so it's more like what we're used to. I can't think of any cons as of now I'm just loving the new format so far! Now if they could only bring back the pause video feature this would be the PERFECT app!!
My friends hate the new Direct Message and so do I!
I love how Instagram updates things just to make things a little bit easier and obviously better. But lately when they updated there Direct Messaging system it was a mess. Now for me being a teenager, my friends love to put me in a group with ten other people that like to add a new text message every 5 secs which annoys me very much. But my friends aren't the problem. In the past with the old direct message system I was able to leave a conversation quick and easily when I became annoyed, but that doesn't seem the case for the new one. Because anyone in the conversation can change the name of the group, the system can automatically re-invite people who already deleted the conversation every time someone does a name change. Which means if I was part of a group that was named "Party at my place" and I decide to leave the conversation I could be re-invited automatically when someone in the group changes the name to "bob the builder" (true story). I know that Instagram wants to make their app super easy, fun, and functional, but they have to realize that it shouldn't be what they want it's what the costumers want, also I feel that they are not listening to their costumers. Basically I'm saying don't change something if we don't ask. Also the new giant emojis are a waste of space.
New DM Update
Instagram!! There are so many people that HATE your new update for the Direct Messaging! There is even a hashtag against it! And i don't mind because that latest update was really bad. It's the same thing as kik. Anyone can change the group name. It brought back old DMs that had took forever to be deleted. The old DM style was much better and everyone loved it and it didn't need fixing. Once again you just go and fix something that doesn't need fixing. If you look on your page towards the post about the new update. You'll see that every SECOND there is a new comment about how awful it is, I mean are you even listening to us? Please, we all want the old DM style back. We want instagram! Not some worse combination of kik and facebook! The giant emoji thing is from facebook and is unnecessary. You cant delete comments. Every person has access to change the name. Brings back old DMs from SOOO LONG AGO. Theres no multi delete for DMs. Too much like kik and facebook messenger (i think we established that already). Trying to put people in a DM is more time consuming than it used to be. Please, we understand that you are updating to try and make things more "efficient" and you've always done a great job with it, but now...you flopped and we're all just counting on you to delete this new update!! Thanks for your time.
