What's New in Version 8.3
Bug fixes and performance improvements.
I like Instagram, but....
All of these new changes are really turning me off to the app. I posted a picture the other day and only received about half of my normal amount of likes. When I asked some of my friends if they had seen the picture many of them had missed it completely because of the update. The lack of chronology really throws me off. I'm not even truly seeing people that I like on my timeline and that forces me to seek out my true friends to like their pictures. This is making the app too much work. I'm used to going on Instagram during my breaks at work and in muffed time to see what my friends are up to, but this makes it take too much effort. I also feel that I'm not seeing posts that are recent enough. I woke up one morning to posts that were from 12+ hours ago. I don't mind the new logo too much. I'm finally getting used to it, and I really enjoy the new layout. There is one problem that I noticed recently and I'm not sure if it's specific to this version, but I couldn't change my notification preferences. If I tried to change any of them it would say something along the lines of "oops we were unable to change that setting. Try again later."
Another thing is the increase in hackings recently. I feel like the amount of people being hacked within my circle had increased since the update, but I could be wrong.
TL;DR -put it back in chronological order
-let me change setting preferences
-stop the hackings
If it ain't broke don't fix it Instagram.
Instagram has been my go-to and favorite social media app by far for the past few years, but the recent algorithm they've implemented is a huge step in the wrong direction. I'm the kind of person that scrolls through feed until I hit the last post I remember from my previous Instagram session, to be sure I see 100% of the posts from people I follow. That is impossible to do now because there is no clear stopping point in feed to know I've seen all of the posts, meaning to see 100% of them, I would have to individually go to each of the profiles I follow to check for recent posts. Not to mention I've heard things about people's posts not even being seen by most of their followers because this algorithm picks only the "best" posts to be seen first. This is not productive Instagram, stop trying to change- you were a rare gem of an app before, and now you're throwing yourself down the drain trying to control how people stay up to date on social media. The algorithm SERIOUSLY didn't work for Facebook, and it will not work for you. At least let us have a compromise: give us the OPTION in settings to switch between chronological and algorithmic feed. PLEASE. Make yourself great again.
Love it, but please bring back chronological order!
I love Instagram; it is my favorite app/social media site. However, I hate the fact that the news feed is not organized chronologically. It makes it SO easy to miss something. What's the point of using social media if you miss half of what's posted? Please consider bringing this feature back, or at least making it available as an option within the app. Also, please bring back the dark background when editing pictures to post. The white background is extremely distracting and bad for the eyes, especially when editing. Hope to see these changes soon, and thanks for considering.
Update: the latest update that changed the commenting format is very disappointing. What is going on with all of these nonsense chronological changes? Now I can't even see the most recent comments when I'm scrolling through my news feed. It just leaves it at one comment posted hours ago and doesn't show the newest comments. It seems like these new updates are just making the app less user friendly, and it's obvious that the developers are disregarding all of the user requests and complaints. Not a fan.
