Instagram is a simple way to capture and share the world’s moments. Follow your friends and family to see what they’re up to, and discover accounts from all over the world that are sharing things you love. Join the community of over 500 million people and express yourself by sharing all the moments of your day––the highlights and everything in between, too.

Use Instagram to:

* Post photos and videos you want to keep on your profile grid. Edit them with filters and creative tools and combine multiple clips into one video.
* Share multiple photos and videos (as many as you want!) to your story. Bring them to life with text and drawing tools. They disappear after 24 hours and won't appear on your profile grid or in feed.
* Go live to connect with your friends and followers right now. When you're done, live stories disappear.
* Send disappearing photos and videos, text messages and posts from your feed to groups and friends with Instagram Direct.
* Watch stories and live videos from the people you follow in a bar at the top of your feed.
* Discover stories, photos and videos you might like and follow new accounts on the Explore tab.
* Enable Handoff to switch between your Apple Watch and your iPhone.

Decent but with annoying quirks

The comment function now has a send-as-message option that keeps overriding posting of a comment. The little grey bar that shows that the override is occurring is too subtle for my eyes to pick up while I'm typing and then looking for typos. My preference would be to discontinue the override function and make it so that the user selects the message button on the left or the comment button on the right with both buttons the same strong colour. Another option would be to at least make the override notification a stronger colour that that light grey.
Another new, unwelcome change is that when I enter the @ sign and start typing a name associated with an account or the account name itself, it nearly never shows up in the autofill option list. I don't know what algorithm y'all are using to select which accounts (if any) show up as users type both in comments and in posts, but it is not effective in the slightest. Also, when a user does actually show up in the autofill options and I select it, the subsequent text is 'eaten' by the # or @ selected. I don't know why that is, but it's proved problematic.
Lastly, as other reviewers have noted, the badge notification function doesn't function. I receive badges for the same notification several times in a row hours (sometimes a full day) after I've already checked my account. The delay and the repetition are a serious bother. I'll be turning them off until y'all make them properly responsive.

Nothing is working correctly

I love Instagram. It's probably the only social media app that I still use but I'm starting to get incredibly frustrated. I don't use the Instagram story feature. I don't post any and I hardly ever look at anyone else's. But I keep getting notifications for when people do live stories, again, I don't use this feature, I don't care if anyone else uses it but getting a hundred notifications a day about someone I follow doing a live story is starting to really get annoying. I went into my
Settings to adjust the notifications and when I found the live story settings I was so happy. Except, it literally will not let me turn the notifications off. I click "off" and it quickly goes back to "on" I did this for about 10 minutes and each time after I would click off it would immediately switch back to on by itself. I tried going to the Instagram help center and all I did was try to enter my question into the search bar and I didn't even type out the first word before Instagram popped up saying I was using the feature incorrectly and blocked me from using it. So now I can't even look up the FAQs or anything like that. I'm just really over the whole live video thing and just want to stop getting a notification every 5 minutes of someone doing a live stream. Also, I've already tried going to my phone settings and turning off notifications for Instagram all together. I STILL get the live story notifications and nothing else.

Getting worse

I'll admit, there are a few new things i like about instagram still. but i hate instagram live. i don't care nor need to see who is doing a live video and i don't need a push notification about it. edit my push notifications, you say? no problem. oh, but wait... I CANT! i have been trying to change my notification preferences for over a week and it always tells me it can't complete my request, try again in a moment. how long is a moment for you, instagram? please, let me know. also. why is it, if i go to answer a text message or answer a phone call, i lose my spot from where i scrolled to and my whole timeline refreshes from the beginning? is it not bad enough that you show me posts from 10hours ago on the top of my timeline, but now i have to scroll through it again just to see my friends' most recent posts? that is annoying, change the algorithm & back to showing the most recent first.

new update and i am STILL unable to change my push notification settings. please, fix this. i do not want to know every time someone goes "live" on instagram.

march 14 new update and still unable to change my push notification settings lol

march 20 new update. still unable to change my settings

march 27 new update. now i am able to at least get into my push notification settings. HOWEVER, when i try to change them, it doesn't let me. lol I can tap to turn a notification off and it will change back to on by itself. i am far from amused
