Instagram is a simple way to capture and share the world’s moments. Follow your friends and family to see what they’re up to, and discover accounts from all over the world that are sharing things you love. Join the community of over 500 million people and express yourself by sharing all the moments of your day––the highlights and everything in between, too.
Use Instagram to:
• Post photos and videos you want to keep on your profile grid. Edit them with filters and creative tools, and combine multiple clips into one video.
• Share multiple photos and videos (as many as you want!) to your story. Bring them to life with text and drawing tools. They disappear after 24 hours and won't appear on your profile grid or in feed.
• Watch stories from the people you follow in a bar at the top of your feed. View them at your own pace.
• Discover photos and videos you might like and follow new accounts in the Explore tab.
• Send private messages, photos, videos and posts from your feed directly to friends with Instagram Direct.
• Instantly share your posts to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and other social networks.
• Use Handoff to switch between your Apple Watch and your iPhone.
What's New in Version 9.4.1
We have new features and improvements! Update to the latest version of the app to get them.
Drafts: Now you can save a post as a draft to revisit and share later. Tap to exit the share screen and select the Save Draft option.
◦Mute someone's story by tapping and holding their profile photo in the bar at the top of your feed. Once you mute a story, it will move to the end of the bar and it won't automatically play when you're watching stories.
◦Lots of bug fixes and improvements to make stories even better (and faster).
My hatred for Instagram is unfathomable
When this app first came out it was great. I started my most popular account, bees420, (im currently bees421) a little over one year ago. When I started it, I made it a joke, however throughout the life of that account, as I gained more followers, I started taking it seriously. I could communicate with people around the world that I had never met. I made friends with people from many different countries, and bonded with thousands of people. A few days ago, I reached 17,000 followers, the most I have ever gotten on any account. Later that day, when I went to post a picture, I received an error that I had been logged out. When I tried to log back in, I received the message that I had been disabled for being against the community guidelines. I wanted to know specifically what I did wrong, and learned that I was apparently "glorifying self harm", which is completely false. I made a new account to try to get my followers back, and through the help of my friends I gained about 600 followers, but the other 16,400 people have no idea where I went. When I saw what had happened I was shaking for 20 minutes, and I wanted to die. Instagram deleted my successful account for no reason, and later I learned that they were deleting other accounts unfairly as well. Instagram has been corrupted and is no longer a good app.
Instagram used to be fun
I used to use Instagram daily and is the only social networking account I have. It was simple and I chose who to follow, and got to see all of their posts. If I didn't get a chance to use it for a few days, I could just scroll down further and see everything I missed. Now Instagram just shows me out-of-order posts from a few accounts, duplicating posts from those while not displaying others.
For me at least, the best feature of Instagram was its simplicity. I usually like having lots of controls and options but Instagram actually got it right without needing any customization and the simple format of a chronological feed accomplished that perfectly.
I used to use Instagram multiple times daily and probably spend about 10-15 mins but now I've opened it less than five times in the last few months and will just delete the app and account if it doesn't get fixed soon. Oh well, I guess it was cool while it lasted.
Porn Hub but with access for minors.
Dear Instagram Management and Programmers,
I am writing to respectfully ask that you do something to more effectively filter pornography and adult content on your site.
First and foremost, it is inappropriate to have adult content on an app rated for 12 and up. There are no options to control content for minors, and as such you are essentially providing pornographic and adult content to minors.
Second of all, for adults, it is irresponsible to continually feed pornographic content, full frontal nudes and buttock closeup shots and videos to anyone's search and explore, even if they follow those types of accounts. It is also inappropriate to suggest other such accounts to users.
Thirdly, your "show me fewer posts like these option" appears not to work. Despite indicating that I wasn't to see fewer nudes, buttock close ups and twerking, they still appear in the search and explore tab! What is worse is that THE EXACT SAME PHOTO FROM THE SAME ACCOUNT appears when I refresh the feed.
Instagram is an app that our family uses to share photos and be inspired by other people's photos. The entire experience has been ruined by the deluge of quite frankly sickening content.
Please address this issue, or alternatively re-rate it as adult only and clarify in the description that this is an adult app with adult and pornographic content.
