Think with your fingers: your quick doodle turns flows into flowcharts, concepts into concept maps. The pocket whiteboard for your brainstorms, mind maps and diagrams — instantly visualize all of it!

“This is the best simple visual thinking, simple diagramming or back-of-the-napkin thinking app available for the iPhone and iPad. And, unlike the napkin you draw on at lunch, diagrams from the program can look good enough to use in books and professional journals without further enhancements.” — George Huba, hubaisms.

Just sketch some rough shapes, type in some text, then link them together. Instaviz neatens the shapes and arranges them elegantly as you work — out pops a beautiful, tidy diagram. No fussing about with precise appearance or absolute placement, or getting stuck in popups, gadgets, modes or menus.

“Instaviz’s impressive strength is the way that it intelligently rearranges your flowchart for an optimal layout on the fly. Watching boxes and lines reorganize when you’ve got your flowchart into a jumble, by not planning ahead sufficiently, is quite cathartic.” — 4.5/5 Stephen Northcott, Touch Reviews.

Next, refine your ideas with font, color, shape and style. Focus in on one of the 25 different settings. Then pick from 300+ fonts, 280 label sizes, 36 colors, 18 alternate shapes, 18 arrow heads, 10 graph styles, 8 border/line styles and 3 label positions. We carefully marshalled this army of options so that your every order is carried out quickly and exactly.

“Here’s what I like about it, I don’t have to worry about picking tools to draw the various shapes — I have a tool right here: it’s my finger!” — 5/5 Terry White, Adobe Worldwide Creative Suite Design Evangelist, BestAppSite.

It’s now time to share your work with others. Let Instaviz pick the best format, or choose one from Instaviz, Graphviz DOT, Visio VDX, PDF, SVG or PNG. Then show it to the world through email, message, print, AirDrop, DropBox, Facebook, Flickr, Google+, Pinterest, Twitter, WhatsApp or any available share extensions on iOS 8.

“We love Instaviz. Imagine a white board, and then imagine all that creative power, in your pocket. You don’t need to bring anything with you. Simply you, your ideas, your thought-process, and your finger.” — 4/5 Aaron Hirst, 148Apps.

Too Confining

I came looking for a flowcharting program which would allow me to create the standard flowcharts found in computer programming. I saw that this program seemed to contain the basic symbols and connectors that should make that possible. Then, once I began to use the actual application, I found that it was terribly confining. I was unable to resize the symbols (with their size determined by the amount of single-line text in them). I was unable to move them, but forced to accept the locations that the app selected for them. I could not control where the connecting lines exited or entered a shape (such as having the "yes" connector go out the bottom of a diamond and the "no" go out the left or right side of the diamond). In short, I was basically at the mercy of the application, which I honestly found quite frustrating. Finally I created a flowchart allowing the app to have its way, and while the shape was quite odd and unstandard, it was usable. If the creators will allow for more user control of the shapes, sizes, locations, etc., this will be an excellent application. As it is, it should be a free app until more fully developed.

Almost there

Other reviewers give a good idea of how this app works and works really well. Also, let me add it's really fun and easy; as you add more shapes and lines, it become easier to de-clutter your ideas/projects. So, what can propel this app to a 5 star review?

1. Better switching between dragging and drawing. Still too easy to select or delete a node when trying to pan over the diagram.

2. An instant menu to change color and shape without needing to scroll down an entire menu of option. When you're just trying to work out a pattern, fast edits are more useful than lots of options.

3. Group selecting and ability to change node as an entire class (e.g. purple stars).

4. Unless I've missed it, an undo button and the ability to drag shapes to another area on the screen.

I'm more than happy to have paid for the app knowing that they'll continue development. Thanks to the development team.

A Huge Leap

This application is only application is only getting poor reviews because it is not well documented. Almost all of the features that the other reviewers say aren't there (i.e. shape changing, exporting, deleting, etc.) are actually there. Initially the auto-arranging feature was a bid odd and I found myself wanting to rearange the diagram, but then I realized that the way the application organizing the chart is actually more logical and forces me to think my ideas through a little bit deeper.

I think I finally can eliminate paper from my life. I frequently have to chart out software applications, marketing plans, general business process and story ideas and this app along with Zeptoliner gives me all I need. It is expensive but very worth it. I downloaded the only competing app iDiagram and this app is so much quicker to use.
