Mind boggling

The implementation of the software, the design of the puzzles, and the game play are all mind BOGGLING! Everything is top notch.

It takes a little while to get good at slelecting and sliding some of the smaller pieces, but once you get the hang of that, its very natural. Very smooth and seemingly bug free.

The written hints are at exactly the right level of hint-osity. They keep you from dithering aimlessly and give you a needed leg up so that you can focus on the intersting part of the game, solving it. I used the written hints on almost all the puzzles, otherwise I think I would have given up. Consider yourself a genius if you can do this without the written hints. Actually, I think you would have to be an idiot savant, but maybe I am the idiot idiot.

Suggested implementation improvement: X-Ray mode. If you know Sketchup's X-Ray Mode, I think that could really help the game play here. Sometimes you have to spin the playing space around in order to see where the collisionis taking place. That gets in the way of the interesting part of the game.

I solved all the puzzles in about a 48 hour period and I was pretty glad there weren't more. I guess I have OCD and this game triggered an obsessive/compulsive behavior trait. So I was glad the puzzles aren't computer-generated and infinte. How do they generate these puzzle. Talk about a genius! WHomever designed the puzzles has my utmost respect.

So-so

Pros:

Good puzzles very much like real world wooden interlock puzzles

Cheaper than buying hundreds of real puzzles.

Cons:

they count moves yet force more moves than would be necessary in the real world. For example, in the real world it is possible to move two pieces by moving one. Not possible in this game. Ridiculous.

Another con is that it is actually far more difficult to solve these puzzles on screen than with physical puzzles, simply because you can't see the pieces in true 3D.

Also, the control algorithms need a lot of work. Some times it gets pretty frustrating that when you want to move a piece you end up spinning the whole puzzle around or vice versa. Very annoying!

Finally, nowhere near enough puzzles. I was done with the entire game in less than two hours.

Neutral comment:

This game does a great job of demonstrating the limitations of virtual puzzles. There truly is only so much developers can do to duplicate a real world experience. Nothing can beat a real puzzle you hold in your hands.

Close to the real wooden puzzles

This is a great program that almost mirror the wooden puzzles. Unlike the real puzzle, your not able to move the pieces with any rotation angles. The parts remain fixed and are limited to straight movements similar to Tetris.

Although the design allows you to view the puzzle at any angle, the controls at time does not respond to your movement (it would rotate in a direction that you didn't direct).

Overall a fun game and worth the brain time to manipulate.
