Functional but not perfect
This latest update sends out daily notifications if you haven't used it, and there is no way to change this in the settings. Also, maybe the developers aren't American but in America green means go and red means stop!! This app has red as the color of the screen during high intensity and green during low intensity. I guess for 'hot burning fire' and 'peace and tranquility', respectively. I don't know about anyone else, but I consider the time I'm doing an actual exercise HIGH intensity and the rest/transition time to be loooooow intensity, so when I set up a new internal I have to remember to input my high time as low so it's green for GO...because you don't need to read the screen anyway..who exercises intensely staring at their phone, close enough to read it- I'm working out, hard! The only real improvement in this latest update is at least they've made the screen colors bold, whereas before they were pastel at best..not good when working out under bright lights. Also, I guess I can't blame them for trying, but I laugh every time I realize there's an ad at the bottom of the screen. Yeah...when I'm 50 seconds into a 60 second long set of burpees I'm definitely going to be squinting to try to see what tiny little google ad is flashing across the bottom of the screen 10 feet away!! Not!
Gets me goin!
Love this app. I used to take kickboxing classes at $99/month and now I'm working out at home with a friend I used to take the classes with, and we can tailor our workouts in almost the same way they were in class. I think they may have even used this app as a lot of the sounds are the same. I like the encouraging messages the app sends me if I haven't used the app in a while. They aren't obnoxious or often, but just enough to remind me to workout! I wish I could tailor the "change song each set" feature a little better - I wish it didn't change the song after a 20 second rest in between sets, but maybe I just need to change it in my playlist somehow. All together great app. :)
Overall, I like the upgrades to this app. In particular, it's easier to use the music options. Before, the music controls were so tiny, I couldn't tell if I was changing songs or stopping the music until it happened. I also like the colored screens for day and night. My only complaint is that it's even more difficult for me to see my interval number and its high/low label. I'm in my 40's, so smaller font is more difficult to read, especially when I'm running. I've been very happy with this interval timer and will continue to use it.
