Ratings and Reviews
Good Invoice App!
Alto offers a great mobile invoice service that's easy to set up and send out client billing. Invoice templates are clean, uncluttered and professional. They look great and clients like the design clarity, too.
I have used the app for nearly a year, and it's easy to track client payments when the client pays via a digital service like Stripe, PayPal and Square Cash.
When a client writes a paper check and it's sent in the post, there's no option to annotate invoice billing in the app to mark as having been paid. My only option would be to delete the invoice, but that defeats the purpose of how I keep track of client billing.
Support has been silent on this issue, having contacted Alto through their web site.
And while I mostly like using Alto, for these reasons I am giving it 3 stars. I hope that for future iterations, my concerns about manually marking invoices as having been paid by check will be resolved.

Does great. Dropbox function does not work.
I use this app a lot to split the bills with my roommates. They usually like to see the physical bills. So I paid for the subscription and the Dropbox function does not work to add an attachment. Everything else is perfect. A solution I can think for the developers for the moment is to make a place where people can paste their Dropbox file link. Then customers can click on the link/button.

Promising, but has some huge basic gaps
This is a lovely app that creates lovely invoices easily, and I really wish I could use it for my business. But unless I’m really missing something, I can’t. Here’s why:
- There's no way to mark an invoice as "Paid" (by cash, check, or anything else). The vast majority of my clients either pay me at the time service (usually via check) or mail me a check after receiving my invoice. If I can’t record those payments, this app is essentially useless to me, no matter how nice other parts of it may be.
- There doesn’t appear to be a way to mark line items as "reimbursable expenses", products that I purchase and the client pays for as part of the final tally. As of now they appear as income, which they are not.
I’d love to use for, and would totally pay for, this app if you could address these issues. The first one is by far the most important.
