ipash ME - the FREE command line for iOS!
No need to jail-break your iPad/iPhone to use a familiar environment!
Do you need to check what processes are running on your device or how much free disk space you have left? Do it with the commands you already know!
Freely inspired by the shell for Unix "bash", ipash ME gives you a little taste of the good old times while using your iPad/iPhone.
Whether you are nostalgic, passionate or simply can't do without a command line, you'll love it!
ipash ME comes with your favourite commands (ps, ifconfig, cd, cp, ping…) but adapted to the iOS environment (and its limitation: no, you won't find a 'kill' command and you won't be able to access the root directory or files of other apps…sorry!).
ipash ME also takes advantage of iOS advanced capabilities like gestures and scrolling.
ipash ME is the FREE version of ipash. The paid version of ipash does not contain ads and includes additional commands and features.
• the most common shell commands (ps, ifconfig, free, wget, ping...)
• local file system management (cd, ls, cp, rm...all limited to ipash sandbox)
• Dropbox support (manage files on your Dropbox account)
• vi: simple but powerful text editor
• additional buttons to make input from keyboard easier
• two finger swipe up or down to access the commands history
• two finger swipe left-to-right to autocomplete entered text
• pinch to interrupt the execution of a command
• unique ipash commands (Try: safari, maps, mail...)
What's New in Version 2.3
-Fixed minor issues
I am a beginner when it comes to bash, but now i can practice on the go! However, it would be nice if you could add something along the lines of UNIX's man pages.
It's a fake command line
Look, I've been a unix sysadmin for over 20 years now. The most basic of commands do not exist so there's no ability to function properly. It's a nice example of a wannabe command line (remember apps in iOS are sandboxed, like Apple would approve an app that breaks that), but without any standard command list, this is just an app to show off to your friends.
needs more commands
Okay, fine, Apple won't allow this app to affect the OS's settings or anything. But can't it have curl? sed? awk? cron? With those, some logic, and a command that issues an app badge or notification, there's so much this app could do.
