iPose U - Featured by Apple in the New & Noteworthy section of iTunes in December 2009!
You love to take pictures. Every holiday and birthday finds you with your camera in hand, lining up the family for the same old group shot you take every year. Yeah, boring but how on earth can you take a family photography any other way?
Those photos that your friend had taken by a professional photographer are awesome. You'd love to get your engagement pics taken by a pro but you really can't afford it right now. Still, the occasion is a memorable on and you don't want the same old thing everyone has for their engagement announcements. You want outstandingly special and perfect. You know someone who takes great pictures but you want more exciting poses and don't know where to find new ideas.
Both of these photographic dilemmas can be solved for less than the price of one roll of film developing. With iPose U, the two photographers above would have their answers with just a few taps to their iPhone.
The iPose U app is a creative pose library and resource for professionals and amateurs alike. Loaded with more than 1100 categorized pose and angle samples, users will never again struggle to find the perfect subject set up for a shot. The portraits on iPose U are a mix of traditional, contemporary and creative. In other words, there is something for every photographer in this app.
This app is a result of some pretty impressive, expert experience. iPose U was developed by a well-established, professional photographer who specializes in family photography, wedding photography, and shoots of countless baby and child models who are seen on TV, as well as in many ads and commercials. If anyone knows a good pose, it's this developer.
So aside from great poses and a lot of creative stimulation, what can you gain from this app? Plenty, regardless of your status as a photographer right now:
* Professional looking, less conspicuous angle/pose reference on shoots - so you can leave the old-school, unprofessional thumbnail sheets at home
* Ideas for both posed and candid shots
* Ideas for various angles
* Your favorites, so this is not forgotten in the pressure and time constraints of the shoot
* Quick reference on how to group/pose people and what type of shots/angles to get when the photographer is drawing a blank
* Great ideas for wardrobe suggestions
All of the images in iPose U are sorted into 8 different categories for easy retrieval:
Babies, Children, Siblings, Family, Relationships, Maternity, Couples & Adults
Find what you're looking for quickly and easily ahead of time.
Your next photographs can have some extra sparkle and life just by purchasing iPose U.

Not Worth the Time or Money
I've had this app for about 9 months now and I would agree with all the other comments made to date:
- It is not worth $4.99
- It is for Amatuers
- It is Repetitive
- It doesn't utilize the space available and there is a lot of black area and the thumbnails are too small.
I thought this was going to be much more of an app than what it turned out to be. The biggest thing I would suggest is as someone else commented:
- Allow users to either upload their own shots from different photo shoots or have a shared site, like Flickr, where different shots/ideas can be accessed. (similiar to the Backgrounds App)
- Allow the ability for the user to create their own category and, based on the suggestion above, allow users to upload their own photos from a computer or iPhone to show clients of their own work.
- Provide more tips for lighting, notes on why the poses were used for the shot and suggestions for certain poses not to use.
Right now, based on the functions of this app, I find it a big waste of money. I have figured out other ways to show clients pose ideas without using this overrated, useless app.
Anyone who gave this app a low review due to lack of creativity, should hang up their cameras now and make room for us real photographers. The creativity is supposed to come from the person BEHIND THE CAMERA. Not some little gadget in your vest pocket. this is a tool no different than a filter or a gobo. it's a suggestion guide which is exactly what it says it is. Want something different, then use one of the poses as a start and LOOK WITHIN YOURSELF FOR THE CREATIVITY!!! God it's no wonder so many of us struggle to survive while posers undercut pricing and destroy reputations of real photographers everywhere. I bet some of you expect to be able to push a button and have photoshop add swirls, adjust compensation, fix your white balance, remove dust, and wipe your rears too huh???
I think it's great!
I have been a portrait photographer for 3 years, and sometimes it feels like the same ol' same ol'. I think this is a great app for different ideas as well as subtle changes to poses I already do. I like looking at the different background ideas as well. Verbal pose techniques would be nice, although I knew they weren't included with this app when I bought it. And yes, you can browse ideas on the Internet, but why go through the trouble when you can have so many easily accessible ideas with the click of one button? I enjoy looking and studying the poses when I have a few minutes to spare, such as waiting at a doctor appnt or waiting for a client to show up at a location for a shoot, which you can't easily do with a laptop.
