iRamDisk uses a part of computer's RAM to create a volume that can be mounted and used independently.

This volume can be used to reduce the number of writes to disk or to get a very fast writable/readable volume.

iRamDisk is preconfigured for Xcode and Safari/FireFox Caches.

Note : creation of RamDisk under ~/Library path is not allowed.

Works well, would like automatic backups

I use this primarily for creating a ramdisk for very large word documents. It makes everything much smoother. You would think that Microsoft could do a better job caching images and whatnot, but that is a separate issue.

The one thing that I would like to have added to the app is automatic backups, maybe just for certain kinds of images. Right now I use a different program to for automatic backups, but it would be great if this app could do it.

If you have make your SSD life longer, this is must have app

Thanks for nice intuitive UI, great and fast support.

Works Great. Good purchase.

I was suspicious of this app, as it's developer's site is no longer up. Others had complained about it doing what a Terminal Script could accomplish. I've found that it's a bit more than that. The interface is easy to use and looks good to understand how much of your RAM Disk(s) you've used.
After installation, I found that alot of the complaints about it missing features and not working are either not true or are based on much older versions.
After installing at least 8GB of RAM, it's easy to put up 1GB for a User Cache RAM Disk. I usually use about 3/4 of it, after a few days, but rarely more.
You could probably get by with only 4GB of RAM and using a 1GB RAM Disk. However, I wouldn't want to see what happens when your RAM Disk runs out of space for your User Caches.
It starts up with my MacBook Pro and immediately moves all of my User Caches to it… Pretty cool.
As for saving stuff to a RAM disk and restoring it after reboot, etc… it does that fine. I contacted the developer about this, because it's not very clear, how it works. I got an email back pretty quickly (in English, though not perfect). I tried his instructions, which weren't perfectly clear, but worked.
I'm happy with this purchase. I'd like to see it better supported with a good English user guide (I've offered to the developer to help with this).
I'd also like to see future versions support automatic saving and restoring the contents of RAM disks upon reboot.
