iRehearse is a music phrase trainer designed to help musicians learn, practice and transcribe tracks. It features independent control of pitch and tempo, allowing you to slow down a song without changing the pitch, loop a section of a track until you get it right, and change the pitch of a song to match the tuning of your instrument.
Whether you play guitar, bass, drums, piano, trumpet, sax or any other instrument you care to mention, iRehearse can help you learn and play those tricky songs.
Control the tempo (speed) of your track without adjusting the pitch. This means you can slow down a particular section of a song (the big solo for example) and hear each note more clearly. And as the pitch has not changed, you can still play along.
iRehearse allows you to change tuning by semi-tones up and down two whole octaves (12 semi-tones = one octave). It also allows fine tuning using cents (100 cents = one semi-tone).
iRehearse allows you to mark a specific region of a track and play just that section. You can also select if you wish to play this section just once or repeat it over and over again. Of course all of your pitch and tempo settings will effect this loop so you can slow down the section to really hear what's going on. Ideal for practising that long drum fill or guitar solo.
The Playlist allows you to setup a list of tracks that iRehearse will play one after another, ideal if you have a whole gigs' worth of music to rehearse. Each track within the list has its own individual player settings that are automatically loaded as the track begins to play. This means that the first track can have a pitch shift of one semi-tone, have boosted treble and be at a high volume, while the second track in the list can have normal EQ and pitch settings, but have a tempo increase of 10%.
NOTE: iRehearse is an audio player and not an audio editor/exporter. It is simply designed to help musicians practice and as such does not include any audio export options. Saving loops simply saves the player's status for a particular track so you can have your favourite settings for each songs quickly and easily. It does not export any audio data in any format.
Nice & Simple
This app does what I need it to do with ease. Works great! My primary use for this app is to change songs from their original keys into whatever key my group is doing them in. This makes it easy to work out guitar parts in the new key. Sometimes I slow down the tempo for more difficult passages and it always tracks well with little to no artifacts. Also, If I’m learning a bass part that’s buried in the mix, I’ll raise the pitch by an octave which makes the bass notes much easier to hear.
GREAT app but I have a suggestion for improvement...
First off, I love this app and use it to learn songs that I have any difficulty with. Second, one small update that I think would be nice is if you could add like a 5 second delay before the song starts so that you can position yourself on the guitar and play the opening notes with more ease. Not sure if anyone else would like this feature but I think it would be nice. Just a suggestion, thanks!!!
Does what it says and does it well but...
The app rates it's 4 stars for simply being able to perform as advertised. I would have given it 5 if I could use my Airplay devices and not have to physically plug external audio into my Macbook Pro. Also I would love to have the ability to save mulitple loop points in each song rather than set the in/out points every time I move to a different phrase. Regardless, it's now one of my favorite apps.
