Requirements
To fully enable the combined experience of your robot and the iRobot HOME App, you must have the following:
• Roomba® Wi-Fi® connected vacuuming robot: Wi-Fi® with 2.4GHz band support. The Clean Map reports are only available for Roomba 900 series vacuuming robots with software version 2.2 or greater.
• Braava jet™ mopping robot uses Bluetooth Low Energy (also known as BLE or Bluetooth Smart) built in to most common mobile devices.

Great App when it works
This app is easy to use and I really like the design and layout. I only found 2 big issues. It no longer finds the robot if the app was previously open. If I force quit the app then it finds it immediately. It just seems to get hung up. The Maps work 90% of the time. Some days they are just "unavailable". Frustrating however it does contain a lot of information about your robot and what it has been up to. The notifications and minutes left until it's charged are spot on. I would suggest an URL way to control the vacuum as well. Just like the Nest does in case you do not have the app or your phone with you. The web browser would be a great back up.
Now they REQUIRE an account
I understand them creating the option of having an account so you can opt in to the Alexa functionality etc. However, I only used the app as a remote for the Roomba to turn it on/off from a distance. I don't need/want any greater functionality than that and it's irritating that after having the vacuum and that app for over a year that I now have to give them personal information to use something I've been using just fine the whole time. I did it because I had to, but I seriously hate it. Make it optional, please.
(UPDATE) Why do I now need to give an email address?
I called customer service, it took 15 minutes to convince them to let me leave a complaint. The last person I talked to acknowledged my complaint as non-unique and suggested making a dummy email. Even their staff can't explain why we need an email without admitting it's for cross-marketing with IRobot/Amazon. (END UPDATE)
Never had to log in before to access the roomba on my wifi. I don't have Alexa and don't need spam. I just want the "control with your smart phone" functionality that worked fine for the last year.
