Calms the busy mind
I often have a hard time getting to sleep at night. It feels like I lie awake for 30 minutes or more than an hour most nights- thoughts buzzing about my mind. This app has most definitely shortened the time it takes. My 8 year old daughter also uses it and she likes it very much. She too has a busy mind at night. I like how there is the option to just play the calming music with sounds of rain, ocean etc. After listening to the guided meditation so many times my brain seems to know when I hear that music, time to sleep- no guided meditation necessary. There are also tips for good sleep preparation and I like the middle of the night rescue bit. This beats any chemical sleep aid hands down. Too bad Heath Ledger didn't have this app.
Easy and effective
Two thumbs up. Using this app has helped improve my sleep and my overall well-being as a result. I was using the podcasts for years. They helped a lot on those hard to fall asleep nights. Of course Apple kept messing with the podcasts app and making it harder to use for this purpose. This app is the perfect replacement. Some of the same material in an easy to use format, good default playlists, and the ability to personalize your own. Even though I've been using the app for a long time, I feel like every now and then I still pick up on a new bit of the meditation that hadn't really clicked with me before.
There's both science and art in creating an effective guided meditation for sleep. For me, this one tags all the bases just right: well-conceived words, a calming personality and voice, and a distinct philosophy of acceptance. I've tried a lot of similar apps, and this is by far the best for me.
Interestingly, until I started listening to it, I didn't realize how important the "acceptance" part was for me: the worst is fighting sleeplessness ("Aghh! I HAVE to make myself sleep!") and these meditations know that: they always emphasize that yes, you can't sleep, and that's fine. Oddly, that removes enough pressure for me to just drift off.
So glad I found it.
