Updates for the 2013/2014 Ski/Board Season!
Not accurate, biased
The app is heavily favorable toward Killington. When we were at Stowe during a snow storm the app claimed Killington had something like 11 inches and Stowe 0. Way off. We waited all day for the app to update, but it still said 0 even though I'm pretty sure we got about 5 inches. To truly see the conditions unbiased you have to go to the mountain website, or better yet, the weather channel. The previous days we had a similar experience with this app, Killington reporting 10 inches and Stowe 3 or 4, when I'm pretty sure we had about 6. We're going to Smuggs or Sugar Bush in few days and will test his app again. Don't get me wrong we really like Killington too, but there's no need to exaggerate the snow reports. There are a lot of places in VT to ski, just don't decide until you check weather reports from multiple sources.
I first download the app to see which mountain is better for skiing. As i open the app it says if i want to receive notifications type your email here, so i type it in and it stays at the loading screen so then i exit the app and re enter it this time not putting in my email. I get to where it shows the amount of snow there is on each mountain and it says that magic mountain had 40something inches at the base but when i passed by magic in the car, there was almost no snow on it at all, definitely not 40". Not to mention it said that magic was grooming their trails, though Magic has no cats to do that job. Then when I scrolled down the list a little more, it said that some mountains would be opened in 2013 because they no longer had snow. So this app was either accurate in 2012 or it is complete BS. Don't download it!!
I love this app. I have the Cali and VT apps on my home screen. The falling snowflakes when the iPhone app open are awesome. Gets you excited for the fresh snow!
In my experience, I have found the reports to be accurate and refreshed in real time. K3 LLC should make iSnow NH and ME. And put Tucks on the NH app. Ski The East!
