In our 2018 digital version we have maintained all of the features that made Istanbul the fan favorite that it is, but also expanded upon it with a number of tools and features only available on the digital platform. We maintained the authentic board game feeling with the convenience you can expect from an electronic device.

So what is the game about?

Can you be the first merchant to collect a certain number of rubies?
• Run, collect and trade goods across the bazaar
• Take control over your assistants
• Increase your wheelbarrow capacity
• Acquire special abilities to increase the advantage over your competitors
• Buy rubies or trade goods for them

In Istanbul, you lead a group of one merchant and his four assistants through 16 locations in the bazaar. In each such a location, you can carry out a specific action. The challenge, however, is that to take an action, you must move your merchant and an assistant there, then leave the assistant behind to handle all the details while you focus on larger matters. If you want to use that assistant again later, your merchant must return to that location to pick him up. Thus, you must plan ahead carefully to avoid being left with no assistants and thus unable to do anything…

Hard to learn on iPhone

Dear Developer,
I’ve heard this game is coming to Nintendo Switch. If you are developing that version, I BEG OF YOU to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE adjust the game so the FONT SIZE IS BIGGER.

I am trying to learn/play this game on an iPhone Xs and it is a unnecessarily difficult chore because the font size is too small. I hope this can be adjusted in a future update and adjusted for the upcoming Switch version.

There are way too many games where playing on larger iOS devices like iPhone X/Xs/Xr/Xs max, AND Nintendo Switch, is unnecessarily difficult because of poor screen realestate usage in the game, and the use of micro-tiny text. I dont get the mentality of developers; these devices may be “mobile” but that should not dictate a need for ultra-tiny micro sized text/font.

Some of these games are obviously meant to be played on larger-screen iPads or larger screens connected to desktop PC’s and laptops. Bet even in those cases, I’ve seen small popups filled with small text that is readable but still only takes up like 5 - 10% of the screen. Why make it that small? These games, especially Istanbul, are easy to learn, hard to master BUT the reality is they are painfully difficult to learn and play on smaller devices due to the usage of the small micro-size text in the game.

PLEASE correct this in the upcoming Switch version, and in this mobile iOS version as well. You want your games to be fun to play right? They’re not when we’re constantly stressing to see/read the in-game text. Use these large beautiful iOS screens to their maximum potential so playing your games is a more enjoyable experience that is stress-free on our eyes.

This game would get my 5 star rating if 1) it was easier to play and 2) if it displayed total wins/losses versus ai (and another win/loss total versus humans), in a user-profile screen. The game is already tracking wins in certain achievements so why not show the total wins/losses somewhere else in the game?

A little tough on smaller screen sizes.

I’m a huge fan of the board game and am happy to have found this for IOS. I’m not sure what could be done differently, but I find that I have to really get close to my screen to play this game well since strategy depends upon looking at the current states of each position on the board. Things like seeing how many assistants are left in a stack require zooming in and out. It’s still fun, but not a super easy experience on a smaller phone (iphone 6/7).

Note to developers - the small market doesn’t deduct the right amount of resources when you purchase the first tiles. It should cost two and only deducts one from the inventory.

Developer Response ,

Do you mean Small Mosque? If so then it's working as intended. In order to use it you need a set amount of goods in your cart, in case of the first use two, but you will always pay only one :)

Very good implementation of a favorite board game

I really enjoy the unique movement mechanics in this game. The bright colors also help give me a cheery disposition.
