Another product where Apple shows it does not care about long term loyal customers

Wefferr

Over the years, Apple has created an amazing environment for its users. Those loyal users have bought in to these products such as iPods, iMacs, Airport Expresses, iPhones, and many other items. We have built systems that allow us to stream music across homes the way Steve Jobs and Apple touted we could. Now, with every new product, Apple slowly forces you to abandon great solutions and move to crappy new solutions.

I have a wonderful music collection and an all Apple environment. Have used Apple Lossless compression. Love to stream my music to my very nice stereo via Airport Express, controlling it using Remote. Was even excited to try Apple Music to see if I can find new music to add to my collection. But what does Apple do? They abandon development and support of Airpot Express. They don’t allow this remote app to control Apple Music from your computer. Their idea of the future is you only use their speaker, the HomePod and you only use their iPhones to control and stream everything so that it quickly kills your battery. Apple has just been sued over making people have to buy a new iPhone every two years with battery issues.

Apple. Update remote to control Apple Music from your iMac. We pay for it, let us use it how we want to. Update Airport Express with Airplay 2. Support the people that made you let company you are!

Eh.

I was actually really excited about this app. So much easier to use than that tiny silver remote that always gets lost. And I’m on my phone all the time and I don’t ever lose it so it’s nice. And obviously you won’t have to worry about replacing the remote ever, but my biggest issue is that it doesn’t even work anymore. It keeps telling me to go to my computers on my Apple TV which I haven’t set up because I never use it... as well as get on my computer (which I also don’t have because to be completely honest my MacBook Air broke after having it about a month and I rarely used it for anything but school work so it’s odd that it broke down.. just like my phone always does 😒) I also tried deleting the app and re downloading it but frankly that didn’t work either. So now I can use the app at all. Even tried logging out of my account and back into it but the stupid app just keeps telling me the same thing. It was cool while it lasted but now it’s rejecting me from using it and it’s honestly making me very angry.

Great, but a few bugs.

Ten times better than using the standard Apple remote with Apple TV. The two biggest issues I have with this app are occasional dropouts in connectivity (could be my cheap wifi router), and phone calls. Dropouts I can usually fix by restarting the app, turning my phone wifi off and on, and power cycling my wifi router if all else fails.

***This should hopefully be an easy fix, though I'm not an app developer. My biggest issue with this app other than dropouts is that there's no feature to automatically pause content when a phone call comes in. If I'm watching Netflix on my Apple TV and a call comes in, I need to tell them to wait, hit the home button, open remote and then pause. Just a minor inconvenience, but I would give the app five stars if they could fix this. Bonus points if you could turn that feature on and off in the settings menu!
