Customer Reviews
Great to use in the car
I have been using iTunes U to listen to lectures in the car. Usually I just play the lectures without using any of the other features, so my experience is not necessarilly for the full usage of the app.
One issue that I have is that when the iPhone connects to an audio playing device, such as the speakers in my car, the Podcasts app automatically begins playing the most recently played podcast. This happens even if iTunes U is open and is the most recently played audio on the phone. There might be a trick to it that makes the OS think Podcasts is preferred over iTunes U, but it would be nice to either set the play order or set iTunes U as the default player.
As a learning tool, the App is great!
Despite the many 1 star reviews, I can say with confidence that this app is fantastic. A lot of complaints seem to complain that the app is complicated. I do not see anything complicated about the class; it's as complicated as finding the right book in a library. There are tons of lectures from prestigious universities, lecture notes, and guest speakers made readily available for FREE. Of course I'm not sure if everything is free, but just about everything is. I would defininently recommend. A little about me: Senior Undergrad Computer Scientist/ Young Adult/ Male. If one of these makes my review seem all the more bias to you, ignore it.
Unorganized and overly complicated
There's no rhyme or reason to anything going on in this app. Maybe this is the fault of individual instructors rather than the developers of the app itself, but I feel like there has to be some way Apple can make this thing a little easier to use. There's no clear, concise order of the lessons you need to take and there's really not a whole lot of info in general about what course you've downloaded or what you're doing. I don't know, maybe I'm missing something but this app is terrible if you ask me.
