Who or what is God? What is the world? Who are we and what is our purpose? What is our problem and how can it be fixed? These are the questions that all religions answer. But the answers they give do not agree with each other. All roads do not lead to the same place. In fact, they point away from each other. Either one of them is true or all of them are false. iWitness World Religions explains the origins of the most popular and influential religions, lists the different branches of it, and shows how they answer the most important questions we all have about life, meaning, and purpose.
Atheism is not a religion!
A major flaw in this app is the developer tries to redefine what makes something a religion. Every definition I could find of religion stated something similar to "a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny". Based off of such definitions atheism is not a religion. If he wants to argue that Atheism is a religion then he should make it clear that it is his humble opinion. He can only come to this conclusion by redefining the word "religion". If he wants to define religion as any kind of belief system or philosophy then almost anything could be considered a religion. "7 Habits for Highly Effective People" and homeschooling could then be considered a religion. CS Lewis argued that we shouldn't use the word Christian unless we were referring to someone who believes in Christ. Calling a good person a Christian is misleading because they might not believe in Christ. Calling atheism a religion is just as misleading. If we really want to start calling atheism a religion then we'll have to come up with a subset of words to describe what kind of religion. Maybe faith based religions and science based religion. But then only atheism would fall under the latter category. To simplify things I suggest we just not label atheism as a religion. Why do people of faith feel it necessary to call atheism a religion anyway?
Another fine job! I hope these keep coming. He covers the major systems of belief. Covering atheism is very appropriate since it is a system of belief requiring faith to buy into. Glad it is included.
And, yes - Atheism is indeed a religion.
