Description

James Madison's Montpelier

The new James Madison’s Montpelier app makes history come alive at Montpelier, the historic home and grounds of President James Madison, the Father of the Constitution, and his vivacious wife Dolley. See the Madisons’ works of art and fine china, explore the latest archaeological excavations, and even discover the hiking trails of the Landmark Forest, all in stunning detail with interactive maps and image galleries.

Visitors to the estate will love its “salubrious offerings” through the audio narrative of the grounds, images of the Madison and enslaved cemeteries, a Civil War encampment, and, of course, Mr. Madison’s Temple, which hides a two story ice house beneath.

This virtual tour enhances any visit to Montpelier and is a great opportunity to see one of America’s most historic sites from the comfort of your home.

Download the app today and start planning your visit.

Great map (allowed me to virtually "visit" a second time)

I did not use this app while I visited Montpelier in person, but a week or so later, I decided to look at the app while bored waiting in my Doctor's office. It really added to my the overall visit experience. I got to mentally revisit the site and explore in further depth some aspects of the site that I didn't get a chance to fully explore in person. There should be more apps like this.

An essential guide to Montpelier

This app enriched my visit to Montpelier by providing detailed information and historical notes at each marker. The app's commentary answered many of the questions I had. I was able to easily follow the markers on the property using the map. One word of caution: the property is actually much larger than it appears on the map, so allow plenty of time to see it all.

Impressive

I've visited Montpilier twice - during it's restoration and after. What a wonderful place. This app (which I wish I had on my last visit lol) takes me back to my time there. The recordings are a bonus. It's crashed on me several times already, I hope this will be addressed. Presentation and depth of material make this a keeper for me.
