Handy for coupons & sales
It is great for keeping track of their sales and coupons which seam to have no predictable schedule (in my perception as a sporadic shopper). However the app does not always have the same coupons as the emails, which I find irritating. I hate being in the store with the app open knowing I have a coupon and not being able to find it then having to go through emails before checking out to find the coupon that led me to drive all the way across town to Joanns in the first place. Also when I have tried to shop on the app it has not provided enough detail like fabric content and weight on some items and the search isn't set up with good ways to narrow a search or to do a semi-broad search like by weight and purpose. I like the app but hope it makes improvements because our local store has trouble keeping help and it is rare to find a person to help you in the store.
Updated review: the app has been very glitchy lately not loading pages and quitting abruptly, I deleted from my phone for awhile and will try to reinstall (already checked phone memory and wifi stuff).
Always loved Joann's
I love Joann fabrics and everyone who works there is so nice and very helpful. (I shop in upstate NY, California, and Illinois Joann's). Only once was I ever not treated well but maybe the lady had a bad day. Overall I've found the employees there go out of their way to assist and are very knowledgeable - getting the answer if they don't have it Their coupons help a lot! I'm retired and love to quilt - can't afford quilt shop prices. Some people say don't shop at a big box fabric store but I make beautiful quilts for babies that last and wash very well. I wash and dry the fabric before sewing and quilting it to help with shrinkage - but I would do that no matter where the fabric came from. I'm thankful there's a place like Joann's for people like me who live on a fixed income because I love to make beautiful things. I can afford to do that when I shop at Joann!
App and Store
I've yet to purchase anything with the app but it has made reviewing products easy for the most part. I have had it freeze and loose all saved items which was okay for me but It meant you lost a purchase. I had reviewed items so simply went to a different store app and bought them them there and/ or got the items locally.
I like our local store but agree with others that it seems to almost always be understaffed- particularly at the cutting counter. There again, I'm not a big fabric user so I make sure if I do need fabrics, etc., I go when I have time to waste or I go elsewhere to buy because it's almost always certain that there will be long waits.
Our local store also seems to be trying on different identities to accompany the fabrics stock. I was pleased with the first changes but seems now they're a bit lost about what they want sell.
Employees are generally great, tho, with the odd exception.
