Cheap but Slow Alternative
Juno rides are the cheapest, especially early after opening your account with the app! However, the routing is terrible and drivers either get lost or take the slowest route to get around. For instance Juno had the entrance to my building listed as the opposite side of the block, where there is no back door or anything, so I called my driver as soon as the ride was booked to tell him to come one street up. The streets are one-way in opposing directions. The guy ended up circling around three times before actually making it to me! What a mess! Another time Juno made my driver exit an empty highway an exit early and take slow stop-and-go local roads to the destination. So unless your driver somehow uses his own GPS or knows the area better than the app, don't expect efficiency.
Update: While I appreciate the developer's comments, it is clear to me that the majority of drivers aren't using Waze or Google Maps and might need some sort of incentive to do so. Juno's routing issue has made me late, but it has fewer ride cancellations, so pick your poison.

We recommend a few things to help clear this up, first make sure that you adjust your location pic after inputting your address so your driver picks you up exactly where you need. Second, while our drivers use Waze or Google Maps to get to your destination, feel free to let our drivers know your preferred route and they should accommodate. Lastly, if there is ever any issue, our support team is available to assist 24/7 for anything you need!
Only saving grace is Customer Service
I take a taxi everyday. If it wouldn’t have been for Juno or Uber I would have saved a lot more money. This app was amazing when I got 30% off cause someone referred me. And it’s great cause I still have 10% off in NYC ... when I look at any car service app BEFORE I order the ride I look to see how many minutes it will take in my area. This app will say there are driver 3 minutes away ... but when I book the driver sometimes 17 minutes away ! Lol it’s happened more than a few times and it’s so annoying. Customer service is great though. Always trying to help. 3 stars ..... by their own standards we wouldn’t be paired again.
Update: this app will consistently make you late to work. I think they put the low number of minutes before you rent the car for decoration. I just tried to order a car when it said 2 minutes away. Tried several times and each car was 12 minutes or more away. Then they said I couldn’t order a car since they saw me cancel multiple times. You can keep this app if you’re never in a hurry, but for me it’s extremely unreliable. It’s extremely easy for me to delete this app.
We are so sorry to hear that our ETA feature has been frustrating for you. The first ETA you see when you open the App shows you the ETA for the closest driver to you. That being said, the closest driver is not always available to accept a ride, in which case your request goes to the next closest driver, and the next closest driver, until you are matched. Can't contact drivers??
I've used the app several times and have needed to contact my driver, but when I call them it send me to a generic Juno voicemail box and texting them doesn't seem to go anywhere (because I never get a response). What's the problem?? Just walked a block in the rain because I couldn't contact my driver to give a more specific pickup location for the door of my building.
Other than this, the app is fine, but not great. GPS location doesn't seem to be as accurate but the prices are typically slightly less than Uber.
UPDATE: Thanks for the developer reply to my original message -- please adjust the app to not allow Google Voice or other forwarding numbers if possible? There's no way we'd know not to use our GV numbers and it's what I use for everything to avoid having my real number exposed to strangers. If it weren't allowed, I would've used my real number and contacting drivers would've been functional from the start. Thank you! I've bumped up my rating by one star.
So sorry to hear this! In order to reach out to your driver, you must be calling from the phone number associated with your Juno account. Otherwise, you will come straight through to Juno support.
