What's New in Version 1.1.196
Fix memory leaks
Add iOS 8 compatibility
As a long-time user, I say "STAY AWAY"!
I've been using the K9 browser for our family for years now. Initially it worked fine, but as the iOS updates have come along, the browser has become increasingly unstable. Frankly, I've just put up with it. As I'm in the middle of reading a web page, the browser will just crash, disappear, and then reload. Often it just becomes unresponsive, requiring a force shut down and restart. With the new Apple iOS 9, it's become even worse. Unbearable, really.
This app does not get updated. Ever. I cannot remember the last time it updated. I've tried to email "Blue Coat", the developer. No response. Tried again, same result. I think they took their "blue coat" and hung it up, for good. It's probably in that hall closet where old coats are left to get eaten by moths and eventually thrown out.
Do yourself a favor and avoid the constant exasperation. It's not worth it. This app is waaaaay too buggy to use. It pains me, as it used to be so good. But alas, all good this must come to an end. And it's time to shoot this thing and put it out of its misery.
Probably one of the best options
Once you get used to K9 (i.e. copying links from emails to open up in the K9 browser vs. the direct opening that would occur if Safari wasn't disabled) it is an excellent app. I rarely have any issues with freezing or very slow browsing. Any slight headaches are TOTALLY worth it to me for what it filters. From comparing other reviews, I think it is as good and likely better than several paid apps out there. I always liked the K9 desktop version so much better because it offers customizable filtering. However, I realized recently that the K9 software on my Mac (that supposedly works with any browser) doesn't work as well as this one on my phone to block offensive searches.
I'm still a happy customer and thankful that it's free.
I think it is a decent Browser
I am an Adult who doesn't like Pornography or Adult Websites. So I use this Browser and find it to be ok.
The Layout is simple nothing fancy but works ok.
There are other Browsers similar to this here at the Apple Store, however I found this to be the easiest to use and not complicated.
There are some Reviews here that claim this Browser blocks to many things, then that means they set this Browser up incorrectly and need to adjust settings on their Phone.
