Fantastic little app

ShardsOfBlue

(Updated) Exactly what I was looking for to practice writing characters. The best on the App Store for that purpose. I love that it has 3 font choices so you can see what variants of the characters look like. The aesthetics are also nice, clean, and relaxing.

Thank you for adding the features I requested below! This is now an absolutely killer app and gets an unreserved 5 stars from me! :)

[What would really sell me would be the option to show or hide the background guide character so I could try writing without it and then see how close I got. It would also be nice to have an optional grid overlay.]

There are no audio files, but I already have other apps for that and was just looking for a way to practice writing.

Ok but...

There are a few things that need to be altered.

One would be to have a brush or pencil type writing utensil so that people don't get confused as to what direction they need to go when writing in katakana. For example, if I was writing a word that consisted of シ,ソ,etc...(all the other symbols that look similar)

Second would have to be to add some type of quiz or self-practice writing section without the guid lines. Even though I only use this to practice writing while I'm not in school, it's still useful. And since I'm helping my guy friend speak and write Japanese, I'm sure it'll help him out a little if not a lot...

Shouldn't be free

Texopolis

Seriously, this shouldn't be free. But I guess I shouldn't be telling the developer that... really high quality graphics, so simple to use, I was up and going in three seconds, and I love the little pics showing me in which order to make the brush strokes. Learning how to write japanese is not easy (trust me!) and this app helps. A lot.
