Kathy Rain tells the story of a strong-willed journalism major who has to come to terms with her own troubled past as she investigates the mysterious death of her recently deceased grandfather. Armed with her motorcycle, a pack of cigs, and a notepad, Kathy begins to delve into a local mystery surrounding her hometown that will take her on a harrowing journey full of emotional and personal turmoil.

As she follows a trail of clues he left behind, questions emerge… What was Joseph Rain really looking for that night all those years ago? What turned him into a mere shell of a man, confined to a wheelchair? What secret did a suicidal young artist take with her to the grave, and why are so many people in Conwell Springs going mad? The truth is dark and sinister…

I loved it! In the same class of other fine adventure titles

Kathy Rain reminded me of my favorite classic adventure games - in the same class of Monkey Island, Indiana Jones, Police Quest, Blackwell Legacy, Broken Sword and Gabriel Knight. I love the old school pixel artwork and the close-up portraits of the character's faces. The voice acting is pretty good, too - I especially liked the performances from the cassette tape recordings. Puzzles were very organic - challenging and fun, not frustrating or ridiculous. My only nitpicks are: nobody uses a photo scanner to ingest audio from a cassette player. Inconceivable! Your players are smarter than that. ;-) Also, if you're going to throw around the "F" word, why do you refrain from using "resting b*tchy face" ("resting scowly face" is not the correct term, and sounds odd). At any rate, I would LOVE to learn more about the backstory in a Kathy Rain sequel. I hope this series continues - I am a huge fan already. :-) Thank you to the developer and publisher for taking the time and resources to release this title. I can't wait to buy the sequel when it's released on iOS!

Perfect! Brilliant!

I just can't give this game enough praise. This is the kind of feeling I want from every point and click adventure game. Comedy, suspense, intrigue, mystery, conspiracy, and above all, a deep desire to see more the whole time playing and to the very end. The puzzles all had adequate clues within the game to solve. I'll admit I got stumped twice and looked for clues online, but overall, I was extremely impressed by the game's ability to guide the player into critical thinking.

Nice homage

If you grew up on Gabriel Knight, Quest for Glory, Space Quest, Monkey Island, Full Throttle, and Day of the Tentacle, this is going to be a very enjoyable game. The story is very similar to Gabriel Knight, there are a couple nice references to Full Throttle, and the VGA style is spot-on.

SPOILER: My only complaint was that was a little too much like Gabriel Knight with the Church being the source of the bad guys. I think the trope of the priest/pastor being the bad guy is played out. I know I'm tired of it. I would have liked to see something a little more original.
