I like it very much!

We’ve had very few problems, and the advantages this system has provided far outweigh the occasional glitches. I guess I’m old fashioned, but I rarely allow myself to be 100% dependent on ANY technology. That means I am delighted when it works, which is most of the time, and never frustrated by rare failure.

I have discovered a consistent vulnerability that I have not seen identified in the reviews here yet. If you use the iPhone’s bluetooth for any other task, such as music at home, Kevo seems to lose its control of bluetooth every time, even though “sharing” is active. Other apps are not “sharing” at all, just taking over completely. If I turn off bluetooth after use, “force quit” Kevo in background, then re-launch everything, it restores reliable Kevo function. (My husband uses an Apple watch, so he has given up using Kevo entirely.)

None of that changes my opinion that Kevo is a great household tool. I think the person who used it for commercial application is an idiot - there are digital combination deadbolts that can be programmed for multiple users, that are more secure, robust, and reliable. You should really consult a professional locksmith when you have business/commercial lock needs.

I have to say I was really excited about this product when we installed it. I loved the fact that I didn’t have to have a physical key to open the door. Plus I liked the thought of being able to lock and unlock the door without taking my phone out of my pocket. Well that is not how it is working anymore. My husband is the main account holder so he has to send me a digital key. My digital key from the app has stopped working at least 3 times. He has had to resend my a key. I finally got tired of it it not working, after multiple times standing at my front door for at least 5-10 mins trying to get it to work, that I used the physical key to open it. This is frustrating because this is not why we bought this product. We wanted to be able to give our kids the digital key through the app but we can’t get it to work well for us. Now it is working a little better but we have to open the app closes the app and then open it again before it will work for us. By this time I could have used the physical key and left the house. So again I’m frustrated with this product.

Still faster to use my key most of the time

The whole concept behind the lock is to make it easier to get in the house without having to fumble for keys. I have two small kids and more often than not, I have to carry one or the other along with bags and such. When the Kevo works, it’s great...my four year old can be helpful and touch the lock and we’re in the house within 10 seconds. But, it DOESN’T WORK EVEN HALF THE TIME!!!!!

Here’s the typical routine when we approach our front door. Phone in pocket, tap the lock and 🙏 the blue ring turns green. It doesn’t. 😞Pull phone out of pocket, tap the lock again. Pray blue ring turns green. 🙏 It doesn’t. 😡Launch the app, tap the lock and pray the blue ring turns green. (App is searching for the lock.) It doesn’t. 🤬 Put stuff down. Get out keys. (App is still searching for the lock.🤬🤬) Insert key, turn and enter. (App is still searching for the lock.😑) Initiate troubleshooting sequence: kill the app. Restart the app. 🤯Restart phone, unlock phone, launch Kevo app...lock found. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Maybe it’s because I have a first gen lock, but it did work pretty well for a stretch. Either way, they wouldn’t get my money to want to upgrade to Gen 2 at this rate. It’s not worth the frustration.
